And here I was thinking more of the cholesteral in the fish and chips and bad PT habits. There are a number of pretty significant naval battles over the last 500 years. I'll throw in The Battle of Myeongnyang which is perhaps the most tactically brilliant victory in all of naval history (if...

I'm confident that its a no. @Lumber is taking the piss. New tribal class had a strong arguement with the ship naming committee. There was also First Nations Advisory counsel representation on that committee. I have a clue as to the results though, only that the recommendations have been...

Been using it all along. Particularly the word combatant as well. Wait until they announce the ships as destroyers.

Take the draught and add 2m at a minimum. I would expect their limiting danger line would likely be drawn at ~10m

Not to surprised. I suspected that given the Leonardo main gun the secondary guns would be part of the package. Given UXV warfare is going to be a challenge that upgrade sales pitch probably found a receptive audience. JSS has no space where the RWS are being placed for a 25 or 30mm mount...

I see a lot more antenna but I won't bore you with the navigation radars (two S band, two X band, one of each fwd and aft to give 360 degree coverage), comms antenna (where you see a dome think satcom of some sort), GPS recievers, IR sensors, SRD 506 antenna's, and so on. The main differences...

They can if they build two and then build one for Norway, built another for UK etc... UK has the same crewing issues as all the rest of us, and digesting a new ship takes some time, so it will allow for that time if done properly. At least IMHO it will work.

Japanese SPY 7 project tracked a space target this last week. Next step is 4 panels instead of 1. Good news for the CSC project as our solution is very very similar to the Japanese one.

RCN has always done ISTAR, its an action not an asset (I suppose it is also can refer to an asset that does the task). Its so integral in naval operations that until this JARMY prase showed up we just called it sailing... ;)

There won't be a blacklash. Ships in Canada have never been classified based on political "fear" of sounding to warlike. The CPF's were frigates in role and in name. The Tribals were always destroyers even after their refit. And before that the ships were almost all named destroyers. Given...

More like the CRCN just thinks the name sounds cooler. But its not tonnage and armaments that get the classification. Its role and sensors.

This was literally my exact proposal I submitted to one of the board members. Keep the battle honours, change the name and the ships crest to be reimagined by an artist from that community. Because some of those crests are... lets just say dated.

I think @Oldgateboatdriver mentioned once that a CPF could destroy all the ship at the Battle of the River Plate without them ever even knowing the ship was there.

There are few things I look at. First is modern networked sonobuoys. There are a few launch options which might work in the mission bay. Certainly bolt on processing or storage are possible. The secondly and not quite proven tech yet but possibly more important... Anti Torpedo Torpedos...

Here's the thing. We can all talk about AAW. Its easy, its public and its flashy and exciting. ASW is secret, boring, slow time. So we're gonna spend no time talking about it. Just like we talk about kinetic AAW, and not Electronic AAW. Electronic is far more important than kinetic. Like...
