I leave for BMQ for infantry in a few weeks and I was just wondering how often do infantry soldiers get moved from one posting to another once trained? Is it mainly via request or does it happen every fairly frequently?

Medical: July 21st 2016
Interview: July 21st 2016
Background check completed: September 2016
Merit listed: October 4th 2016 (infantry)
Position offered: October 14th Infantry
Swear in: November 3rd

Realistically for the Infantry until you reach the rank of MCpl there is not a lot of postings. Once you have leadership training and can be employed as an instructor you are fairly safe to stay in a BN.  That is not to say you can't get posted as a Cpl, but those postings are usually reserved for senior Cpls (and almost always people that want to be posted).
