Don't know how to explain to my parents of my career choice

I concur with DirtOnMyBoots . While it is nice to have parents who approve of your career choice, ultimately it is your life to live. I swore into the CAF and only told my parents about joining the military the day before I left for basic training only because someone blew my cover  :camo: . If...

    Borden Thread- Merged

I've done the drive numerous times and if you are driving during off peak/ non rush hour you should be fine on the 401 as long as there are no accidents, police cars, or special people . You can always attempt  to drive on the 401 and bail if it gets bad and take the 407. I prefer to...

Pay: Statements, Backpay, Benefits, Deductions (Taxes, T4), Deployed ect... [MERGED]

If that's what your offer says, then that is what you should expect. During basic you will have some class time with the clerks where you will get to review what your pay will be and try to fix any discrepancies. It also may take a while for your pay to get deposited in your checking account.

    Occupational transfer while at BMOQ

Hi OfficerCadet, You would need to be accepted into medical school, before you would be able to enter the trade, from what I understand. If you are seriously considering being a medical officer I would strongly recommend you take advantage of the MOTP program, where the military covers tuition...

    Looking for some answers

I  completed basic this spring, but paleomedics points are still valid. I will try to answer the questions by each number. 1)I think it was $1000 approx. bi weekly, the recruiting centre should provide you with a pay breakdown sheet when you go to sign your offer so no suprises. It will detail...

Military Swim Test - When, Where, and How- Merged

Practicing at your local pool will definitely help, but seriously do not worry about the swim test. You will be occupied with more important things at basic. Best of luck and enjoy the course. I sure did :camo:

Military Swim Test - When, Where, and How- Merged

You somersault off the swim blocks. The fitness staff will give you thorough instructions how to complete it. You will stick your head between your legs and roll off the platform. Don't worry and you can attempt it numberous times.  :)

Picture frames @ BMQ (yes, enough for a merged topic)

Just bring a picture and save yourself the trouble of borrowing someone's from your platoon and being asked why someone else's girlfriend is in your photo  ;). My platoon had tons of left over picture frames from the previous platoon before use.

Underway wish I had you handling my file originally. Applied in March and was not merit listed till October. Had to resubmit the same documents on three seperate occasions. Luckily there was a helpful individual who ensured all the boxes were checked on the recruiting side ;D . Recruiting can...
