A Deeply Fractured US

WTAF is their problem? They don't really need any opposition when they are their own worst enemy, and are completely unable to actually govern.

The lack of basic competence and ability to adult is amazing; this kind of inability to compromise and work towards a common goal is a fairly basic requirement for functional human beings doing anything in the real world.

I’m surprised no one was shot…

Kind of the point, isn't it?

Chinese border? Russian border? Indian border?

Everybody expects the Americans to act differently. And they do.

When some "responsible" Republicans deserted the party and started trying to tear it down from the outside, subject to the condition that it return to being exactly what it was with them in charge again, they necessarily reduced the size of a party majority past the point of tolerating a few wing-nuts and instead amplified the power of the latter. Their hypothesis was that they could apply pressure to speed up its eventual destruction and rebuild it to their liking. 8 years have passed. They're about as far from trying to compromise and work towards common goals as it's possible to be with that degree of hostility. They're not merely not being constructive; they're being actively destructive. Don't leave them out.

On that note, the GOP will soon be down to a single seat majority in the House. This is not an advantageous trajectory for them.

Yep. American voters are going to have to decide whether they think current federal spending is an "advantageous trajectory" or not, and choose a president and congress accordingly.

At this rate the other side might get five or six months unexpectedly at bat with a majority of both houses and the presidency before the election.

So basically, none of the above…

If they do, and do something with it, that might clarify the election choices for voters. The legislative filibuster is still in place in the Senate.

That would be something lol. What an embarrassment.

Well who could have seen this coming…

Donald Trump’s new joint fundraising agreement with the Republican National Committee directs donations to his campaign and a political action committee that pays the former president’s legal bills before the RNC gets a cut, according to a fundraising invitation obtained by The Associated Press.

The unorthodox diversion of funds to the Save America PAC makes it more likely that Republican donors could see their money go to Trump’s lawyers, who have received at least $76 million over the last two years to defend him against four felony indictments and multiple civil cases. Some Republicans are already troubled that Trump’s takeover of the RNC could shortchange the cash-strapped party.

I'm not going to be partisan with this one. All you people laughing and dancing best remember that this won't rest with Washington. There's millions of Americans that are destitute and many more to come. Very few in either party care, except for themselves. The infighting and everything that'll come with it will only hasten the USA into the gutter. You're not giggling at Trump or Biden. You're laughing at very possible downfall of the USA. Enjoy your party.

Look. I’m personally more afraid of the downfall of the USA if he loses, realizes he has nothing to lose, and pulls another J6. He has already primed his base that the election was rigged, and will be rigged.

If he wins, the USA may become a pariah state - as much as a country of that stature could be.

I’m going to be honest here - there is no “100% good” outcome. There is potentially bad, and definitely bad. I’m “laughing” in the way that military members use dark humour in the face of a potentially shitty situation.

And then there is Plan B.

Cash for fines.
