    Ukraine - Superthread

Likely a lot of those Cubans felt trapped and this appeared to be the "Least worse option". With Russia's star fading. Now might be a good time to dangle some carrots in front of the Cuban government.

    Ukraine - Superthread

If you look at most of the drone footage that comes out of the battlefields, the contested areas are utterly pockmarked by shells landing far from what appears to be the objective. If the Ukrainian air force does not make an appearance, then the thought is "bloody cowards not supporting us". But...

    Avro Arrow RL-206

I will disagree with you, the role did not disappear, it was supposedly to be taken over by Bomac (which was a real dog) and then we had to buy an interceptor and guess what the Americans were happy to sell us one. The Arrow was likley going to be a very good interceptor and likley would have...

Dutch ships and designs and the possibilities for Canada

Ice classes can give you a headache. There was a nice graphic that lined them all up on the web, but can't find it anymore.

Thetis = 21kts top speed, PC 6 (borderline PC 7) Knud Rasmussen + 17kts. PC 6 I don't know enough about azipods and how efficient they are when your getting up to higher speeds?

Dutch ships and designs and the possibilities for Canada

That "punch" goes both ways, icebreakers wear out from thrashing through the ice. Also your propulsion units that are optimised for speed, while likley be vulnerable to ice. Ice took off a blade of the Polar Star, a US heavy icebreaker. PC 5 is all first year ice and things can go badly if you...

More Than Half (56%) of Canadians Consider Canada’s Armed Forces to be Old and Antiquated

I am agnostic on the Hummer, but I really liked the 4x4 tactical truck the US got and wished we had bought them as well.

M1 Abrams tanks and M2 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, are currently “way too heavy,” and “complex” to be sustained

At this point I be happy to have LAV mounted 81mm mortars, so at least we can pretend to have SPG's

At that time the Hummer still had a lot of issues, including the horrible 6.2L engine. Plus I think one of the requirements was to fit into a Chinook (I could be wrong on that, but I seem to recall that) Plus it had to be built in Canada.

MLVW needed 150 mods to fix issues when issued, pretty sad when your just updating an existing design. The Iltis was not a terrible vehicle, but the Germans were at the time replacing theirs with G-wagons, which is what we should have done as well.

    Ukraine - Superthread

As i understand it Ukraine also has a draft and moblized soldiers. However it has a better cause, treats their soldiers better, evacuates and treats wounded better, rotates units and personal out of combat and provides better training when they can.
