The opportunities tend to be in the least affordable places.
It's all well and good to find a "cheap" home in SK, MB, PEI, etc., but what jobs exist there that a person can afford to buy the afore mentioned "cheap" home? What specialty training and experience is required for the jobs...
Interesting, because I never heard of a municipality turning people away... or complaining when the undesirables spend their money in the municipality.
Any municipality that fails to factor the reality of urban growth into their plans has failed to plan, and Canadian towns and cities are...
I agree, and I agree that governments at all levels have bungled housing and municipal planning for decades. So all levels of governmetn should be looking at ways they can reduce the factors hurting supply.
I suspect the young people who played by "the rules" and are locked out of home...
Doing nothing while waiting to find a perfect solution isn't an answer either. Unless you happen to be someone who is benefitting from the current situation, and don't want to see a change.
That is true to an extent, but is no more universally true than the idea that most of the property owning immigrants were already wealthy before coming here and used that wealth to buy into a safe real-estate market.
Like most things, there are a variety of factors at play.
Combine that with, "get this money somewhere safe" as well as borrowing against the first property to finance the second, and maybe it's less that "domestic" Canadians are lazy slobs and more that rich people from outside are flooding cash into a safe market.

Then you need to account for the various "classes" of observation sites, based on how well the sensors are sited. My job is inspection weather stations, and I can assure you that few meet the Class 1 standard...
Which is why I find it amusing when people claim it's "distinctly Canadian"... It's not Canadian, it's a Wish version of the US Army uniform of the time.
It's the part of the country the CPC can afford to burn the most political capital, and it would be in the premier's interest to not alienate the CPC base in Alberta too much.
Fair, and you're far from the first RCN member I've encountered who has done the same thing. Short of an order to not wear mine, I wear it because it was issued... Even though it looks pretty silly.
How are we to enforce the rules if we don't follow them ourselves?
I think a command badge looks pretty silly on the RCN DEU due to the lack of a pocket for precise placement, but if we are ordered to wear them.
Not just limiting, but giving preferential points to people because of things not directly related to their job performance.
I'm sure in the CAF we have all seen people promoted well beyond their ability at least in part because of scrit point chasing.
Like you, I will need to see some...
