MWC, were any of the trades you applied for open/in demand at the time you applied? Because I applied for 1. Infantry 2. Armoured 3. Combat Engineer in October 2010 and within a week or so I was being told my file was closed. Just wondering if/when they started immediately closing files. Trying...
Just wondering how many, if any of you on these forums currently has an open application for Combat Arms trade?
Trying to gauge how many people are awaiting spots to open in April, or whenever they may open?
Secondary question: Through the contact Ive recently had with recruiters, it is to my...
I love that Ièm being attacked saying I dont know what Ièm talking about etc I never said I have done a security check for CF which some had a problem with and I clearly stated that I needed to have security checks done for Nav Canada and Firearms Posession and Acquistion Licence and both times...
K well I may have been misinterpreted throughtout this thread. When I had fingerprints done for Nav Canada and for my firearms licence they were done by RCMP. Not once did they mention or say my fingerprints would be going to any agency other then RCMP and they are obligated by law to tell you...
valid point skeletor. As I mentioned, I think from my own personal point of view it would help me get into the proper shape. Not saying it alone would. And I feel having all sorts of different goals is key to success. My first goal is to find a trade I will enjoy if I cant get infantry, then my...
I have had to do security clearance for Nav Canada to be a Air Traffic Controller which involved RCMP fingerprint check and as well, when you apply for firearms licence you are checked through RCMP too. In both cases it took about 2-3 weeks. I never said I had to do security clearance for...
I have had to do fingerprinting for certain security clearances before and it doesnt take that long. RCMP covers cross canada and they could have it done in a couple of weeks max. What might take longer is if they start sending to local police authorities. But seeing as your not going for...
PuckChaser you make a very valid point and I am aware that anyone in the CF whether it be Army, Air Force or Navy in any trade can apply for JTF2. and I know that no preference is given to certain trades but from a personal perspective I feel that Infantry would be a better stepping stone...
everyone is making very valid points and I agree with most of you. I am not going to join iny trade just so I can get in and be bored out of my mind. Thats why i am on here and trying to find which trades I would be willing to take. I just have a strong feeling because of pulling troops out of...
thx for the advice
The choice to join infantry isnt a case of being 17 and not knowing what I want or wanting to shoot rifles and blow stuff up. I'm 26 now and have a family (wife + 2 kids) but my ultimate goal is to apply for jtf2 and i believe infantry or at least combat arms trade of some...
took all those trades straight off the CF website. They are all open for applications now. They are some of the few that are open before April. So Im not sure what led you to belive 2 of them dont even exist anymore.
I really really really really really want to join the Infantry, but would be content with any combat arms trade, but that being said and as we all know the current state of hiring in the CF, I dont really want to wait a year.....2 years.....who knows how long to finally get in. I would be happy...
I hate this. Considering about 5 years ago I applied for Infantry and got accepted but declined because at the time I found out my Opa was diagnosed with cancer and only had a year or so to live I declined my offer and went to Ontario to spend as much time as possible with him before he passed. ...
I tool commercial aviation at the University of North Dakota with a minor in Air Traffic Control. I applied for and got accepted by Nav Canada and went through training with them. I was sent to a Non radar air traffic control sector for specialty training and had problems. Wasnt able to finish...
I definitely understand where you are coming from but at the same time who knows when infantry or other combat arms positions will open. With troops being pulled out of afghanistan I'm sure there is a huge surplus of guys in all combat arms positions so it could be years before I'm able to join...
The more thinking I do and the more reading of these forums I do, the more I realize the chance of me getting into the infantry or at least a combat arms position any time soon (ie April) is slim to none. I am just wondering what trade would be the best to join if I plan on re-mustering into...
I have been looking for a while on these forums for an answer to my question but I keep reading different opinions.
As we all know, the new fiscal year opens in April and alot of positions will be opening up. Is every-one going to be on a first come first serve basis come april or are there...
