Cheers! Already e-mailed but have yet to hear back... The wife is beside herself with excitement about getting in and she's cracking the whip to get her connected with them... Domestic 9er wants stuff done ASAFP!
Random Question of the Day....
Apologies first off if this not the place to ask as like I said it's a random question.
Is anybody out there a member of the CFB Edmonton saddle club (Or knows one)? My wife and daughter are looking for a stable for the 1400lb hay burner.
Cheers, HTFU
If it helps I am in the final stages of recruiting in PRes (app has been finalized and sent to the local regiments) and a firefighter in the civvy world. I also am an avid backcountry skier, mountaineer, rock climber and more. During the recruitment process it was great talking to the...
I am in no way a med tech but I work as a firefighter/paramedic on the civy side. This is straight from Canadian Blood Services:
"Can blood donation cause anemia?
Whole blood donation results in a drop in hemoglobin of approximately 10 g/L (approximately 6-8%), depending on the size of the...
Quick follow up for anybody researching or searching this pretty obscure topic. When the Sgt. (who is a PA) gave me my medical it (my reaction to Lariam) was followed up by a quick question regarding any mental health issues (none). Then the topic was dropped and the medical proceeded....
In...
Well I've had some moments around the fire hall where I would agree wholeheartedly with you.
This sounds like something from a firefighting forum now. Including how easy we stray from the topic. I think if I get in I'm going to like the CF! Sorry admins for getting off topic on the medical...
Apologies for the last one. Getting off night shift makes me a bit slow sometimes.....
I was going to say that I have a feeling that if and/or when one joins the CF homicidal ideation may be a helpful quality. My co-workers who are vets have mentioned that it's an operational asset under some...
When I was in Nepal all the "sa'abs" were given G and T's at lunch and dinner. I don't know if it helped but morale was pretty damn high! I guess that's one colonial legacy that should stay in place.
Appreciate the quick reply Infanteer.
Good to know that my one "allergy" isn't a make or break deal. I was put on Doxycyclene and made it back Malaria free!
Cheers, HTFU
Greetings all,
Quick question before my medical. I had an averse reaction to Lariam before a trip to Nepal back in 1997. I had the usual reactions minus the panic attacks and attempted suicide/murder compulsions that everybody hears about. I was put on another anti malaial with no problems. I'm...
I gotta comment on this.... "some Pedestal" quote.... Some of the guys on my crew have served from Cyprus to Afghanistan. We've had CAF vets on my FD fall through floors on structure fires (the only thing that saved him was an awesome partner and a well placed hose), get caught in flashovers and...
Ballz you are 110% correct... As is X_Para76
Buts lets not change the topic. We're talking about those over paid and over rated firefighters! ;)
Cheers, HTFU
I'll keep it short and sweet: Day rater EMT-P (Ontario ACP) are paid around the $800 a day. Room, board and travel paid by the company. It def ain't like working a rig back home and if you want steak ever night you got it. Some of the camps are actually as nice as any hotel around with gyms...
Are firefighters over rated? Are firefighters overpaid and underworked?
I guess it depends.... I could quote all the Union and IAFF reasoning and logic until I'm blue in the face but in the end everybody gets paid to what they are worth... I was a volunteer firefighter for many many years...
