    "Ultrasound to treat war wounds"

Here are the companies and orgs invloved.  I dont think that the project is that far advanced to predict the data that you're inquiring about.  If you have a keen interest in it check out these sites. http://www.therus.com/ http://www.acoustxcorp.com/index.html...

    "Ultrasound to treat war wounds"

The concept has been worked on for a few years now.  The company is hoping to have a finished product in 2009 I believe was their proposed date...ish. The device basically finds and cautorizes the internally bleeding vessel with a beam, so no surgical cutting required.  The problem is vessels...

Health Canada grants CFHS access to Hypertonic Saline-Dextran

Thanks for the update.  Thats great news, but the medic will still have to carry isotonic crystaloid.  It's pretty hot in the desert!

    HEMCON for QUICK CLOT?

I'll just clarify.  What I meant by fielded was in the medics pack to be infused in the "field".  I've never considered a MTF the field even if it is in Kabul or KAF etc.  What most doctors and a nurses considers the field is a little different than my perspective of the field I guess.  Just my...

    Load Distribution

+1 on the dump pouch.  Outstanding peice of gear for stashing everything including small weapons.  Then the Paramedic doesnt look like they are 'carrying' and are less likely to be mistaken for an officer.  You can throw casualties personal effects that you remove in there - anything.

    HEMCON for QUICK CLOT?

The lowest common denominator should not be a factor with these devices.  Training is the key to their use.  If you are carrying it and not trianed to use it properly, you may as well of saved your money and stuck with the old field dressing.  It s the same with any peice of equipment you carry...

    HEMCON for QUICK CLOT?

Can you clarify the part of your post that says the HemCon heated the tissue?  HemCon doesnt get hot.  The Fibrin dressing used to cost $1000 per dressing.  I say used because they have all been recalled because they contain human fibrin and the liability was too much and they couldnt field the...

    Load Distribution

Ok, you need to clarify some things first. what are you talking about when you say 'personal gear'?  Your medical kit? If you're hangin out by the CP you're useless.  You're not a tactical paramedic.  You may as well be sitting in your amb - co-located behind the perimter - where the "CP" is. ...

    HEMCON for QUICK CLOT?

HemCon has come out with a thinner more plyable dressing with the same effectiveness.  They have also pretty much completely solved the quality control issue they had a few years back that some people still talk about.  They are also making smaller sizes at a much more affordable price. And to...

Ontario Primary Care Paramedic joining the reserves

With a PCP cert, you could also join the CF as a SAR Tech straight from being a civi!  That is another option for you too, though they dont get to go overseas.

    Proper Tourniquet Application

Seems I have to reply in here as DS is posting in a locked thread and I dont have that luxery. I'd have to say thats all those statments are taken out of context.  Some of it was a devils advocate approach.  Why did you lock it?  And then why would you post in it after it is locked?  One would...

    Proper Tourniquet Application

You're digging for something you will never find.  All my intension was, was to, in your words "help the average soldier".  "goad us DS into proving a point" was an issue that was fabricated by DS.  Spiderman you are definitely not! I took no digs at the CF, I simply stated I was surprised how...

    Proper Tourniquet Application

You know what says a lot about credibility, is making issues when none exist to trying and look important.  Banned, warned, whatever, is semanitcs.  I'm not skirting any issue.  I will deal with every issue head on.  And I can't pretend you're NOT DS because as soon as you loose face or feel...

    Proper Tourniquet Application

FYI I was never banned.  I I never challenged anyone to ban me.  But it wouldnt surprise me if they did as some people get threatened by information very easily here.  Now why is this conversation taking place in a public forum on tourniquets???

    Proper Tourniquet Application

I guess I am the one mistaken then (as you always seem to have to manipulate your understanding of my posts to try and prove that I am wrong, and of course you are always right because you are DS).  I was discussing tk WRT TCCC as they dont really have any application anywhere else.  St Johns's...
