The Australian Defence Force Academy’s (ADFA) annual production is here again. Navy Midshipmen along with Army and Air Force Officer Cadets have put on their dance shoes, picked up their microphones and got into the swing of things with Jonathan Larson’s ‘Rent’.
Commandant of ADFA, Air Commodore Margaret Staib said, “The annual musical production is a chance for the cadets to show the local community the diverse array of talent that is nurtured at the Academy.
“Both academic and military studies, as well as sporting commitments are a big part of life at ADFA. Amongst all of this, a large number of cadets have devoted a significant amount of time directing, producing and performing the musical,” Air Commodore Staib said.
Over 60 people have been involved in the musical this year including the cast, backstage, technical crew and the band.
To organise and manage this many people to produce a high quality musical has not been an easy task, but Director Officer Cadet, Joshua Kam has enjoyed the experience of working with the talented cast.
“When you think of the Australian Defence Force Academy, you think of a military and academic institution, and of people dressed in camouflage uniforms running around the bush.
“Instead we have Midshipmen and Officer Cadets gliding on a stage singing, acting and dancing. The depth of talent in this year’s cast has been astounding and I am extremely proud of their dedication and professionalism.
“Directors are often far too keen to say that their show will be better than the last, but I have complete confidence that the cast will put on the best show that ADFA has seen in recent years. The best part is that they will have fun doing it too,” Officer Cadet Kam said....
