Author Salman Rushdie Stabbed - Aug 12th, 2022

CNN is reporting that author Salman Rushdie has been stabbed while preparing to speak at the Chautauqua Institution in western New York.

He has been airlifted to hospital but no word on his condition yet. The attacker is in custody but no indication of motive yet.

Motive - he has a Fatwah laid on him by fundamentalist Islam followers. THAT is the motive.

Reminds me that I had meant to give another go at reading it; found it a bit pretentious and hard to follow when I was younger. This is pretty appaling, but might have the Barbara Streisand effect of getting another generation to read it.
