I wondered about glove.  What kind would be recommended in the field for infantry types?

Chuck
Have you even tried the CF issue type of gloves?
The ones I find most comfy are the "mortar gloves"
The Cadpat unlined gloves are decent - though not very good for rapelling
The winter gauntlet style gloves are decent
and then there are the mitts - which I think are great...........

Oh yeah
there are also:
Wire gloves,
work gloves
contact gloves
NBC gloves,
Dress gloves
White gloves

............ and you want to use something else?

If you have a problem with sizing, go to QM and tell em

the days of "miss fit", "won't fit" and "can't fit" are pretty much over and the CF will provide you with the gear you need.

For mashing through the woods and doing 'hard' field stuff, the issued CADPAT leather gloves are fine for temperate conditions. They're tough, and when you do eventually break 'em the queen buys you a new pair.

For OBUA a lot of guys will buy aftermarket gloves for better ergonomics and grip, accepting that they trade comfort and handling for durability and paying for the gloves on their own hook. Still, a good pair of Hatch gloves or some such should last a good long while in hard use, and many consider the improved grip to be worth it. In the woods, though, I'll wear what was issued.

Really it depends on the use... I must make a mental note to try to acquire a pair of mortar gloves. I've heard many good things about them.

I'm a huge fan of the contact gloves...they can tear up, pretty quickly, but you can always get 'em replaced.

Dunno
I used to buy alot of my own kit, now with what I am getting (slowly) I havent spent much any more. I personally like all the gloves we are issued now, CVC;s rock. The mortar glove is excellent too.

My two cents
