I stumbled into this show a year or so ago watching the Japanese movie Midnight Diner on an Air Canada flight.  Netflix has now made an anthology show about the diner and some of its patrons.  Aside from amazingly filmed Japanese "comfort-food porn" (think omelette rice and Japanese-style corn dogs instead of sushi/sashimi), it's really a feel-good show about interesting and relatable characters in late-night Tokyo.

Saw that show! It's good. Something a bit different.

Heads up, Dimsum. And anyone else might be interested.

Season 2 has started! Wonderful show.

Yes, this is a necro-thread.

But, I've been watching some Yatai videos. Like this one from Hiroshima.

Similar to Midnight Diner, but these are on wheels.

His cheerful work ethic and customer appreciation say it all.

I've been interested in rhe Far East since I was 18 and stationed in Chinatown.

I liked it there. Noisy, crowded streets with open front shops full of everything. Hanging red and gold signs I couldn't read, conversations I could not understand, and the unfamiliar music.

Just streetcar ride from home, but it felt like a long way.
