Hi,

Really sorry if this is the wrong board but I guess my question doesnt really have a category. Alright so im going to gagetown for about 6 months. I want to ship my 32' tv via canada post. The thing is Im leaving this sunday however, need to ship the tv before I leave. My question is what address do I use to ship it too in gagetown. I know theres no permanent address for me in gagetown yet. Is there anyway I could still ship my tv prior to me leaving. Any help appreciated. Im sure a lot of you have had stuff mailed to you what address/format did you use?

Thanks

You could ship it to my house, and I'll watch it for you
(just kidding)
You could ship it to yourself, at your new address.

(For example, if you are going to the Arty School, just ship it there.  Find the address online)

For the amount of money you are going to spend mailing a 32" TV to Gagetown and then back to where you came from, you could rent a larger TV in Gagetown.  Besides; do you trust Canada Post, Greyhound or whatever means you want to ship it, to deliver it undamaged?

32in Colored TV, your kidding right !

By Canada Post, you gotta be kidding right !

Sounds like your really going to rough it.

Just be sure you insure it to the hilt.

Where exactly would I be able to rent a tv near gagetown and what are the associated costs with that going to be around....

Wow, the shacks must be a lot better now, if there's room for a 32 foot TV.
;)

You going there for a course or a tasking?

If you are going on course I would suggest not to take your tv, as you will have room inspections.....

Tasking, unless you are a MCpl or above you will probably be in a room with up to 4 persons things can get damaged or stolen......

My  :2c: your mileage will vary..........

Canada Post managed to destroy a set of 18/10 stainless steel pots and pans when I shipped them from Edmonton to Ontario. Think about how hard they must have worked to do that, and you're thinking of shipping a TV? Plus when you try to claim insurance for your new box of broken glass through CP, the number of hoops they make you jump through is breathtaking, and god help you if you have no receipts. Buy a second-hand TV in Gagetown through Kijjiji and sell it again when you leave for about what you paid for it - those Rent To Own places are going to rob you blind. They make payday loan places look ethical by comparison.

Last time I was in Gtown I bought a 19" flatscreen and brought it home in my Barrack Box (old style).  D59 has free cable so if that's the bldg you're staying in a TV is nice to have.

Here you can find many televisions for sale on Kijiji, many for under 100 bucks.

Thanks for all the help, never thought I would get the amount of replys to help me out. Looks like a buddy of mine is driving up here, I asked him if he could bring it up with him if I threw a few $ his way. He was more than accomodating. The shacks are still in dire condition but nothing better to brighten up the day like watching some dvds on an actual tv rather than using a laptop.

Depends which shacks you get.. D-23 to 25 and the H-Lines yeah, they are bad. D-27 is nice individual rooms, shared bathroom with the room next to ya. D-59 is pretty much the pinacle of rooms, you get a mini fridge, microwave and free cable....
