Hello, am a woman with an interest in getting help being coming a medical laboratory technologist through the subsidized education Plan offered by the Canadian Forces. I already have completed a two-year biotechnology program, but I do not seem to be able to find a job with that education. I want to upgrade, but can not afford it.

I am a good student, so I am not worried about acceptance from a school and yes, I understand I would be required to serve a few years.

The website makes it clear that basic training, which takes in the summer for Approximately 12weeks, would preceed the period of education, but what will happen between the start of the study period and graduation? It is 7 semesters long (over three years ) with some placement.

Do I take the same basic training for the summers in between the study periods or do I do something else? In what capacity do I serve while I am still not qualified as a medical laboratory technologist. To be qualified I am required to pass a test of certification as it is a regulated field.

I am not sure how the process works. Do I serve in a capacity of assistant, more basic training, or do I need to get a summer job separate from the forces?

I am not sure if any one can help me with this, but the infomation provided does not include these finer details.

Any help would be great.

Hello, I am seeking information about the Subsidized Education Plan. I have completed a two year biotechnology program, but this isn’t leading me anywhere. So I am considering getting help upgrading in the form of becoming a Medical Laboratory Technologist.
I would be required to serve for at least four years.

I understand that the summer preceding the beginning of the study period is for the basic training of new recruits.
The program is over three years (7 semesters, with some placement).  So in between the periods of study in what capacity do I serve?  Do I repeat basic training again and again each summer until I graduate, or do I act as an assistant to those with the credentials? (note: this is a regulate field).

I can’t seem to find any information about this process. Before I sign-up and dedicate the next 8+ years to the forces I would like to know the process in its entirety.

I’m not sure if anyone here can help me, but it would be very much appreciated.
