the good ole days

I remember the "good ole days" when Officers and Senior NCO‘s were there to support the soldiers and their families, and did so because it was the right thing to do, and never for personal gain. Someone wrote in a discussion here that todays soldiers seem to be of a different calibre today as to "the good ole days". Perhaps they miss "the good ole days" as well.
I just came from reading the DND Family Support website, and the content is laughable.
