Ukraine - Superthread

I’m sure Ukraine was behind the Rainbow Warrior sinking then too ;)
That smells of France from here, but a long line of other NATO IC and SMU’s would also be on my Bingo before Ukrainians simply from an opportunity side.
Quite possible but the article does say:
Speaking to CNN, a Ukrainian military source described the operation as the work of a “non-Sudanese military.” Pressed on whether Kyiv was behind the attacks, the source would only say that “Ukrainian special services were likely responsible.”
Smart PR move by Ukraine even if they didn't do it. It's not like they have much to lose diplomatically as they're not exactly getting lots of support from the 'Global South' while it could leave Russians/Wager-ites everywhere looking over their shoulders.

Ukrainians introducing ammo back packs for their LMG gunners. 650 rounds per pack.

So that’s a M240B (basically a C6A1) the backpack feed always briefs well but is totally fucking useless in the field.
They are also crazy expensive, and awkward. as to make it work it has all sorts of metal channels inside the metal chassis to align the rounds and allow the feed chute to clip in. It is also very limited positionally as you can only move the feed chute so much without kinking it and making it break the belt.

Personally I’ve had much better luck just linking multiple belts and laying then layering them in a solid assault pack, you can pull out ammo as needed and shake it out if it gets hung up on itself. I could fit 800rds in the LBT 3 Day Jump Pack. - it works well if you’re running the gun solo.

Maybe part of Canada’s contribution of assistance to UKR was having DLR advise UKR on load carrying stuff… 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah, but it's so freakin' cool!

This is pretty disturbing also. Foreign workers being offered non combat type work, and then being forced into combat.

If this type of stuff is even remotely true, I wonder how long can Russia keep it up without outright mutiny in their ranks.

Cuba is just one of the country’s that Russia has been conducting human trafficking for soldiers. Many haven’t even been mislead into the war, but forcibly kidnapped and forced to the front.
Most of the ‘Global South’ is also being victimized the same way, but unlike Cuba doesn’t have any other real options to confronting Russia on this.

Even typically loyal Cuba isn't impressed with the Russians on this issue.

Would this be considered impressment? If so, add another one to the very long tally of war crimes committed by Russia

SOF/Int work often requires folks with different skill and mentality from the CF. Generally above average intelligence, and a creative mind.
Yes, characteristics that may tend to be career dehancers (new word) in peacetime. Just as is often the case with warriors - the BS of regular peacetime armies is not a good fit. Tbe trick is to find them a way to be available when needed and out of sight out of mind otherwise. The IRR would be an option if it was managed properly (we need a Stirling...)
