General
On February 1, 1968, the Canadian Forces Reorganization Act took effect, amalgamating the Canadian Army, the Royal Canadian Navy and the Royal Canadian Air Force to form the Canadian Forces (the CF) as we know it today.
The fundamental goal of DND and the CF is to protect Canada, and Canadian interests and values, while contributing to international peace and security.
