FMC 1968 to 1997
LFC 1997 to today

Force Mobile Command was created prior to Unification of the three services on 1 February 1968. FMC became one of six functional commands of the new integrated Canadian Armed Forces, in essence becoming the "Army" of the CF.

Brief History

With Unification, Army Command was set up in St. Hubert, in the old RCAF Base on the South Eastern fringes of Montreal. Force Mobile Command (FMC) was commanded by a Lieutenant General, and had responsibility for all army ground forces in Canada. It has now been replaced by Land Force Command, and is no longer located in St. Hubert.
