I know that members are guaranteed FTSE in their first 4 years of service. I have seen many people around the country getting on FTSE even after 4 years of service. All the literature I'm finding online seems to insist it's only during the first 4 years.

Does anyone know where I can find more info on this? I tried searching national.mil.ca from my DND laptop but couldn't find any governing documents, nor the CANFORGEN that would have been issued when FTSE was first launched.

Isn't the plan to stop offering FTSE and let the final years run out for those who were promised it?

Essentially it is guaranteed for 4 years, because that's the average to get fully qualified. After that you aren't rolled under FTSE if going on courses and taskings. Do not worry, if you are looking for work, the CaF will find it for you.

After 4 years you can be employed in support of FTSE such as instructing on BMQ in the summer, often these people are mistakenly identify as FTSE.

Hello, do you think is it mandatory to apply for the full-time summer employment (FTSE) since I really want to but the problem is that I have my civilian full time job and study as well..

No - if you look at the form that should be provided it is asking what periods you would like to be employed. You can simply indicate that you are not available as you already have full time employment.

In 5XX at least it's 5 years now. No it's not mandatory, and yes you can only do a portion of the time if that's all your available. There are two types of pers on FTSE here, students and supporters. The students are the 5 years or less pers and the supporters are everyone else. There is still some discussion of what FTSE pays for vs not, but in reality, if someone wants work, there are far more jobs than people so you're likley to get as much as you want.

CA is offering 5 yrs FTSE, and I believe they are the only L1 doing so. They are paying for that 5th year out of their own budget.
