2025 Federal Election - 28 Apr 25

I wrote to both the Liberal party centrally, and to the Liberal candidate in my riding today at a fair bit of length (I know, try not to be shocked) to express my considerable unhappiness with them standing by Chiang as a candidate. I’m super unimpressed that he’s not been bounced out on his ass. Saying something like that is, IMO, utterly disqualifying.
I listened to a LPC operative who half heartily put up the "not enough time to vet candidates" excuse. They kind of trailed off when it was pointed out that the offending person was a sitting MP.

You guys keep moving the god damn goal posts. First it was "Trudeau Trudeau Trudeau, all Trudeau, F*** Trudeau" , and now it's all "it was the cabinet ministers! ", it was "it was butts and Telford whispering in his ear! ", "it was Carney puppeting his economic policy!". Stop being so butt hurt that PP and CPC is tanking in the polls.

Poilievre is just plain dangerous to Canada and our future. Trusting him and his cronies is gambling with your families legacy.
you are absolutely correct. Trusting Pierre is gambling with my family's legacy. With Carney there is no gamble; it is a guaranteed loss.

I’m really looking forward to the next Line podcast. It’s gonna be vicious.

This one?

No, I’ve got like 15 minutes left in that one. It’s excellent, and the insight into the factions within the conservatives was really interesting.

I mean the next one, where they’ll have the Paul Chiang debacle, and as of a couple hours ago, Poilievre’s ‘biological clock’ gaffe.

Carney standing by candidate Paul Chiang, who suggested Conservative be turned over to China for bounty

A teachable moment? Sure... you know what the lesson was? Don't threaten your opposition with abduction at the behest of another country; goodbye.

There's no place in any part of Canadian society or democracy for this kind of messaging. Then again, we know which party gained the most the last time the Chinese got involved.
this was an easy decision that was bungled IMO

. I did watch that one and it was good. But the next you mention should be interesting to say the least.

It was all of them.

And they all need to be banished to the hinterlands is Canadian politics.

Your statement about PP being “dangerous” is pure unjustified hysteria. After the last decade and all that we now know you might be justified in saying that about the LPC but not the CPC.

Is it though? His capital gains tax plan was abandoned in 2006 by the conservative government of the day, because it would of been a disaster for the housing market. Only thing added was reinvestment in canada to it, but it is still the same policy. I'm sure i'd be happy with a 100% spike in my home value but if we wanna talk about affordability, this will ensure young canadians will never afford a home on their own.

FAR from a good look even joking about the idea, worse look not jumping all over this guy.

Its actually the NDP and the Bloc that are tanking and the LPC is hoovering up those votes,
Funny thing - some of the commentariat out there (including Blue folks) lament the NDP not doing better & sucking some of the wind out of Team Red’s sails. 🤔

Should absolutely turf him, when his opponent is actually wanted for pro democracy activism, this was just wrong on so many levels, and to me says he is pro china to the point he would sell out canadians to please china. Not someone I want in parliament, turf him and find someone new.

Meanwhile, how to lose women voters in one poorly worded statement

I would say criminal. I mean there must be some sort of endangerment law that fits this.

IMO, this just shows how crass and uncaring Carney is towards anyone not within his sphere of influence.

He went to lengths to dismiss his involvement with candidates being bounced and saying it's up to the Nominating Committee and saying he didn’t
know the details but appeared to take personal interest in this one and actually went to bat for the guy.

Perhaps he saw the loss of a highly prized Toronto riding coming and decided it was best to keep his Chinese operative there.

Heaven forbid Bejing called and ordered him kept in place.

If anyone had doubts about how unscrupulous, the lengths he'll go to to get what he wants or his sense of right and wrong, this single incident should answer your reservations.

Why would that statement cause him to lise women?

Is he wrong? Is having children at 40 when you're renting a home viewed as normal?
Do you mention biological clocks when giving career advice to women?

Heck would you mention biological clocks at all for anything to women at all let alone publicly?

The CPC should steer clear of anything family planning related.

I would.
The fact women get older isn't a secret.

Poilievre isn't talking about careers. He's talking about middle age women facing difficulty starting a family when they can't afford a home. Is he wrong?

Heck would you mention biological clocks at all for anything to women at all let alone publicly?
Yes, why not?

The CPC should steer clear of anything family planning related.
And then he would get criticized for steering clear of anything family related.
