    Promotions in the CAF [Merged]

I believe aircrew allowance is paid providing; 1. You are wings qualified 2. Posted to a flying position 3. Flying at an annual rate or awaitnig training The situation you describe (i.e. non wings qualified) sounds like you would receive Casual Aircrew Allowance $25-ish each time you go flying...

    PLQ MOD 6 INF

I have never heard of block I & II either, that sort of threw me here.  When I did mine in 02 is was just mod 6 (no blocks, phases or parts).  The Infantry guys went and did more training which  I beleive it was a different crse altogether and not refered to as mod 6 block II.  At that time it...

    PLQ MOD 6 INF

I did my PLQ (L) in 2002 and I'm sure things have changed many times in those 5 years..  I was Armd then, and yes we had all trades on mod 6.  A year later when my buddy remustered, he didn't have to do mod 6 because he was a support trade (construction engineer).  At that time the mod 6 was the...

    PLQ MOD 6 INF

I didn't think there was an expiry date on your Mod's 1-5, but not positive about that.  I have a friend who re-mustered out of the cbt arms and then did PLQ.  Since his new trade was a support trade he only had to do mods 1-5.  A couple of years later, not being satisfied with his new trade...

    Auroras for Afstan?

UAV'c certainly are a valuable ISR tool.  The Aurora is another tool in the tool box.  The Aurora has the advantage of having the increased spatial and situational awareness and adaptiveness that the crew provides.   You'd be surprised how much  the MK I  eyeball provides.  A UAV is limited to...

    Auroras for Afstan?

Yep, that is pretty pathetic.  After that kind of experience I can see why you keep it blank.

    Auroras for Afstan?

Hank, in rereading your original post I realized I missed one very important word in something I quoted you on and replied; I missed that key word.  I absolutely agree that they shouldn't be in engineering positions.  I didn't think there were any Nav's or AES Op's in engineering positions. ...

    Auroras for Afstan?

Nobody would argue that an outright upgrade would have been better than an incremental upgrade but at the time it was started it really was that or nothing.  It's not like $ was raining down from Ottawa. Can you suggest who might be better to advise then the end users? No, it gives your...

    The Numbering of Squadrons

No shortage of missions.  Often a shortage of airplanes. The number of groundcrew never changed as they are their own unit, 14 Air Maintenance Sqn.  The size of the fleet was unchanged, the number of aircrews was unchanged and the number of missions was unchanged.  The only thing that changed...

    The Numbering of Squadrons

True.  Between the two of them in the later years they really only amounted to a single Sqn anyway. No doubt.  I know that going through the archived pictures and scrapbooks and stuff, it appears that 405 and 415 had their share of rivalry, with the kidnapping of mascots, practical jokes and...

    Paying Compliments (Saluting, Verbal Address)

Yeah "Chief Warrant Officer" is a mouthful. I  keep it simple and call them Sir/Ma'am.  I am still getting use to calling MWO and CWO in the airforce "Chief" (at least in the MPA/MH communities.  It must be the naval roots.)  It just doesn't come naturally after 12 years in the combat arms but...

    The Numbering of Squadrons

I have never noticed any animosity or bad blood since 405 and 415 amalgamated, keeping 405's name and history.  Most guys just accept it and get on with it.  As an aside 405 was kept over 415 due to seniority, albeit only 4 months worth.  405 was formed 23 Apr 41 and 415 formed on 20 Aug 41...

    The Numbering of Squadrons

You are correct 415 MP and 405 MP Sqn amalgamated in the summer of 2005, keeping 405's name and all that goes with it.  I have heard that 415 was actually just zero manned but I may stand to be corrected on that.

Can an OT go on tour in previous MOC

I'd be lying if I didn't admit I've had the same fantasy.  I have to agree with Ex_RCAC_011 and cdnaviator that, I think, it probably isn't possible, but who knows, it's worth asking about.   Going through the CoC is good advice. Maybe I'll mention it to the Career Manager when I see him this...

Will the army match RRSP contributions in the full time forces.

This is correct I beleive.  BTW, I don't think there is any difference between officers and NCMs, it is the same plan - CFSA This is correct but they must release at the end of the IE 20, according to Question 29 in the FAQ's on the first link dapaterson provided The way I understand it...

Thanks DAP.  I do appreciate being shown I'm wrong again in this case.  Thanks for the links.

Will the army match RRSP contributions in the full time forces.

George, Good point, I often forget that because I joined at age 21. DAP, I am at home and can't access your link but looking at the excerpt you provide I wonder where an IE20 member falls in there. "A member will be entitled to an immediate annuity under the following conditions: 25+ years...

Will the army match RRSP contributions in the full time forces.

Another thing to keep in mind that hasn't been brought up yet; if you are "grandfathered" on the old IE 20 and you choose to accept IPS or a CE, then your new TOS automatically puts you on the new plan.  So if you hit the 20 year mark and you are still relatively young (say 40ish) you can a)...

Holy Crap!  The course isn't that hard!  Wake up call indeed.  Any complications with them starting BAC now?
