The only reason it "lasts forever" is because nobody wears high browns on a regular basis unless a member is killed, and nobody gives a shit if they look good or not when they do wear them to said funeral because of the amount of work required to polish them. Hence they stay "polished" forever...

Maybe so, but the RCMP has only been to Afghanistan once so I just find it weird they felt the need to specify dates when other Canadian units didn't. Many of those units, especially in the Reserve, didn't have members deployed for the entire mission but got the dateless "Afghanistan" honour...

I have one of their belts, and had a run made for my Regiment. It took a significant base order in order to get the webbing made, but they came through for us and they ended up being worn by the most senior ranks of the Regiment.

Everybody is getting discounts these days. I would argue for a first time offender that sentence is both standard and reasonable whether a soon to be former police officer or not.
