    PM Not working...

That works, too - the Report to Mod generates an email to all DS.  I've set up my email program to play a distinctive sound when one of these emails shows up.  Even if I'm not online, I'll hear it (usually - depends on which machines I'm running).

    PM Not working...

On the Report to Mod button.  It seems to occasionally send out two notifications within minutes of each other. The first time it happened, I assumed that the reporter was being impatient, and sent off a PM asking them to hold their horses.  However, it seems to happen fairly often - too often...

Dalai Lama welcomed to Alberta with "Calgary tradition"

As a former Calgarian - I can't help noting that the White Hat is NOT a "provincial" tradition.  It is a "Calgary" tradition. Those dopes from Edmonton just can't keep their grasping hands away from the good stuff Calgary does.  (Pretty soon, they'll be claiming that the Calgary Stampede is...

    MPRR Update

Max: I am out of date (by about five years) - so some of what I say may have been superseded by more current regulations/orders.  So take this as a starting point in your inquiries, not the gospel. The training unit is usually responsible for inputting qualifications into PeopleSoft, upon...

    Realistic expectations

Best advice you're going to get. For what it's worth, when I first joined (and I was Infantry then) I was about 120 lbs soaking wet - I bulked up some, but never really went over around 145 lbs (except for when I went on a beer diet for a while) - and I was fine.

Commander-in-Chief Reportedly Rejects CF Truce During Olympics

I was also one of the nay sayers when Her Excellency was appointed. I felt the same way when her predecessor's appointment was announced. I was completely wrong twice in a row, and I'm ecstatic to eat crow in both cases. Maybe Her Majesty should check with me prior to making appointments to...

    Walts, posers & wannabes (merged)

Well - as long as you're having fun, I wouldn't count it as a "waste" of time.

    Walts, posers & wannabes (merged)

The origin of the term "Walts" is as posted by Loachman.  It is a term (so far) more in use in the British Forces than ours, but it is growing in popularity (the US guys seem to favour the term "poser" for the same type of individual). What your particular Walt describes is impossible in...

    Suggestions to a Junior Officer

Attach yourself at the hip to your Pl WO, or a Sect Comd (or the equivalent positions in your particular unit). Get to know your Adjt - you will anyway, but try to make your first meeting on friendly terms. What recceguy said - in spades.

So You Want to be an officer, eh!

Um, no.  It just means that you know more.  How you APPLY that knowledge is a measure of intelligence. There are many valid arguments to be made on both sides of the degreed officer corps debate - personally, I like George's idea outlined earlier in this thread.  But what I like is hardly...

Guys, I really need some advice about joining. Badly.

What he said - you'll regret it later (I'm sure you're tired of hearing this - so I won't expand on it). However - while you are still IN High School, you can look at the Reserves (once you're 16).  Can anybody on here outline the co-op programme?  Is it still running?  What does it entail?  It...

    Login Problems

Your user name (what you log in with) never changes.  Your DISPLAY name (what everybody sees) is what you changed. I'm not sure that you CAN change your user name.  Mike?

Need alittle help selecting a MOC

(Emphasis added) What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander. Going off topic happens to all of us - and it's very rarely that anyone is called on it. The perceived problems you're having here have nothing to do with being part of the "clique" (that's the correct spelling, should you...

    What's in the Brown Envelope?

I used to be a Chief Clerk.  And I NEVER said "do not open this" - I rarely even sealed the envelope. What I DID say was something along the line of "lose this and your claim won't get settled (and the advance will come off your pay), or your remuster won't go through, or your move won't...

    Cortisone Injection

KodyN202: I'm NOT locking this, as there are more folks than you involved in the discussion.  You have posted this question on THREE forums (so far).  Stop it. For an explanation, go here:  http://forums.milnet.ca/forums/threads/89344/post-877728.html#msg877728 Roy Harding Milnet.ca Staff

    Patellar Tendinitis?

You may not be trying to be rude, but you're sure accomplishing it. FDO gave you the best answer you're going to get here.  NONE of us (even the medical experts amongst us) are able to diagnose your particular ailment over the internet - and for you to continue to insist that we do so (in at...

"Stop Over-Spending" Rally in London 03 Oct.

You're not alone out there in London. I can't think of a single government (rural municipal district, municipal, provincial, or federal) which isn't somehow tainted with the same habits. Personally - I hate the increase usage of "user fees" for many services.  It seems that the "menu" of...

    Recruiting lies?

I wouldn't necessarily go that far - but it is possible that he wasn't hearing what was being said, and then (innocently) embellishing what he DID hear. He may also have been subjected to some "in service" humour - which most civilians don't understand.  OR - he may have overheard some "in...
