The first Investiture of the Queen's reign took place at Buckingham Palace on 27 February 1952. The first person to be presented was Private William Speakman, of The King's Own Scottish Borderers, who received the Victoria Cross for his actions during the Korean War.

Bill you are absolutely right, I misunderstood the question. William Speakman was a Black Watch soldier serving withe the KOSBs at the time . I can recall there was an explanation for why he was with the KOSBs at the time but I can't bring it to mind at the moment.

I was given the Jubilee Medal,those not in the know ask me,what's that one?
"It's me birthday medal" I say's.
Hu? why? "I was borne when our Bessy was crowned and I got a medal for it." ;D LOL.

But it is true I was borne June 2nd 1953.
