Chances of going East/West.

I applied to be a boatswain awhile back. The recruiters said that they would call me when Basic would start..I believe its April for Boatswain? I really do want to go to the East coast. I know that you have some sort of say in the matter, but its not guaranteed. If I find myself out west, how long would a request to transfer to the East take? After my Navy training of course.

Its been discussed but once again here it is. If you find yourself on the coast you did not want to go to, do your job and stick it out. During Divisional Interviews and when you see the Career manager let them know you where you want to go. Remember as well there are no guarantees you will get the coast you want. Also fill out a request form when you get to your unit.
