Clearance question + application process question

Hello again for my second posting on this lovely forum.

Two more questions this morning. I previously worked for commissionaires while in Ottawa. During this time I was required to get a secret level security clearance. I have that and it is still valid. I then also worked at the PSC for 2 years with reliability. Would either of these transfer to the CAF and potentially expedite the process? I didn't have to redo my security clearance when I worked for the PSC so I know it is transferrable at least within the public service, but I'm not sure about the CAF as I've heard there's a different process and some information that the PS does not have access to.

Secondly, I once upon a time applied to join the reserves in Ottawa (~2021) at the time, I wanted to be a cyber officer. I have since discovered that will almost never happen and at the time, I closed my application because I didn't have any other interests at the time. Now, I am wanting to join the regular force as either a signal officer, sigint specialist, or an air combat systems officer (I am also open to an airborne electronic sensor operator position but I can't put 4). I've had my file moved to here in Vancouver and I selected my new job interests. I noticed that when I did that, it said open. The next day, the application was marked as closed and that I am in the prospect phase. Is there any particular reason that my application would have been closed? I've sent an email regarding this as I also need to update my information within my application due to it being outdated but with the double long weekend, I haven't heard back yet. Would it be best to go in, call, or wait for a reply to my email?

I'm most likely just not hurrying up and waiting enough but you never know and I'd like to hopefully work my way into the CAF sooner rather than later since I know that the process can take months.

If anyone has any insight into this, I would greatly appreciate it. If there's any comments, questions, or concerns, I'd be happy to answer them as soon as possible.

Depending on your environment, your clearance above reliability doesn't really factor in. Unless you're going to a trade where LVL II or III is req'd.

Reliability is the baseline for most trades. It won't expedite the process.

The moment your job requires you to fix controlled goods, you need a SECRET security clearance. If you have to deal with ROEs (which all base security forces need to do), you need a security clearance. If you require regular access to a security zone, you need a SECRET security clearance.

Most, if not all, trades require at least a SECRET security clearance.

Most likely the clearance can be transferred, just get a copy of the clearance number and when you fill out the new application include your number on the form, if the clearance is still valid it might speed up the process, but the military might require a new investigation anyways. You do not own your clearance, the company who put in for it owns it. Your employer may cancel it if you leave the company.

But a previous clearance does speed it up, because you are on file.

Fair. Where I am it's all LVL II, LVL III.

I wasn't aware the requirements for most trades had been changed. Mind you, it's also been some time since I worked in a regular CAF environment.

Hey , same boat as you worked at commisionaires and hold a top secret. Spoke to the recruiters and I was told DND clearance is separate from PSWGC Clearance. They will have to start a new clearance and you already holding a clearance has no impact unless it’s already with DND (some sites for cmres are required to hold dnd clearance)
