Hey, saw this link  on the back of my pay stub.

The official Cougar Salvo 2005 website

I certainly hope that those rounds aren't meant to sustain them for an entire week...60,000 rounds of 5.56? That's nothing, especially for an exercise involving close to a thousand men. I mean, my unit just came off a weekend Ex, and four mags didn't last an engagement. This is rough.  ::)

I remember being tasked to support Cougar Salvo 93 (Yakima), 94 and 95 (Fort Lewis).  As a reg force AT I remember loading and shipping truck loads of ammunition across the border.  What a logistical pain in the ***:  Border crossings, Customs, dangerous goods ferries.  What I remember the most is shipping most of it back because the troops who were expected to attend did not show up and the ammo did not get used.

I haven't supported Cougar Salvo in almost 10 years but from what I remember of it, soldiers agree to attend then civilian commitments force them to cancel out.  I never understood why the brigade insisted on shipping so much ammo when year after year it did not get used.  Rather than the brigade shipping the entire allotment, perhaps they are simply forecasting based on historical usage.

Anyone going on this ex, from friday march 18 - 24th? What should be expected... Haven't recieved formal orders through my units chain yet, just curious if any of the forum readers are going to be out there

cheers

There's actually a thread open on the ex.

There's also a link to a CF site (in the thread) for the ex itself.

Have a look.

There's just not enough bombs and bullets to train with. Plain and simple. I was on those COugar Salvos as well, and yes, much didnt get used. They alloted what what have. As far as the trg goes, it should be a good go.

The link you gave dosent work.

The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you.

Try this one, it's straight to the CS05 site.

Of course, I just realized (after I posted the second link) that a Mod has merged the 2 threads (which is why you had a problem with the link I gave)......the link in this post (above) is also in the first post on this thread.

Oops.
