U.K. airshow jet crashes onto highway and hits vehicles, 7 dead
1 person in life-threatening condition, another 14 have minor injuries

British police say a single-seater jet has crashed at an airshow in southern England, killing seven people.
West Sussex Police said the crash also left one person with life-threatening injuries, and another 14 with minor injuries.
Police say the aircraft, believed to be a Hawker Hunter fighter jet participating in the Shoreham Airshow near Brighton, came down on a highway where it hit several vehicles as it crashed Saturday afternoon.
The police force said all the casualties were believed to have occurred on the road, and no one on the airfield was believed injured.
Local news reports carried video and photographs of a fireball erupting near trees and huge plumes of thick black smoke rising.
The airshow released a brief statement on its website citing a "major incident." The plane crashed on the A27 highway north of Shoreham Airport, where the airshow was taking place.
The A27 is closed in both directions and drivers are being asked to avoid the area.
