IE 8

Just a note on my last post; if you want to open up IE 7 again, and have all those same Tabs open, make sure that that is the last Window you close.  IE 7 only remembers the LAST Window settings that you close.    >:D

in IE you can also click tools, and select internet options

in the home page section you can put many lines in for default homepage, it will open a new tab for each.

Hi,

I just wanted to mention that I am having problems viewing the site in IE8 which has recently been released. I am am not sure if it is a browser problem or site issues but wanted to point this out in case any others experience similar issues.

I can open up the home page but cannot view any pages linked from there. I also get this error:
Code:

I am currently posting from Firefox and will be considering switching to it as I get sick of MS IE issues.

Love this site though!

Thanks,

IMHO Firefox is the ONLY way to surf the net without any real problems! MS IE8 is locked out on my computer. Been this way ever since Firefox became available.

Just for your info Firefox 3.5 is out in beta and will be available shortly.

And IE/Microsoft gets another downvote from me...

For those using FF I urge you to read the above article and go through the lengthy process to remove the unrequested add-on. Not sure if it takes as long now, but it took me a good length of time to remove it when I first found out.

Firefox all the way.... Though I am trying out Google's Chrome browser. I especially like Chrome's Incognito window option, where your surfing history isn't recorded for anything you surf in it.

My suggestion is to upgrade to IE8 when you get notified that you can upgrade to IE9.

Firefox's equivalent to Chrome's Incognito:  Stealther

My response to that is wait until Windows 7 is released and get a European version that comes unbundled with IE if we don't get that option here in NA.

Thanks. I'll try it out.

Excellent idea. Thanks again.

Thanks,

Are you still experiencing this issue? I just installed the latest version of IE8 (8.0.6001/18702) and it runs fine. The error code you describe is (according to http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general/browse_thread/thread/52d3b7abdf26ab53/05873d0f7cb78710?lnk=raot, a newsgroup posting) related to a security issue.

I'm currently able to view army.ca regardless of "Compatability View" setting, and with Security Zone set to "High" and Protected Mode turned on.

Just wanted to drop in with a quick note to say that I'm aware of the issue... it's caused by our ad management software, and the makers are aware of it too... I'm hoping we'll have a fix soon, in the mean time the stated fix of turning on Compatibility Mode for the site should do the trick.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

Good news all... I believe I have finally found a fix, and IE8 will work without compatibility mode enabled. If you're still having problems please let me know, and thanks for your patience!

Cheers
Mike

I don't think it is so much the site, Mike, as it is the annoying new buttons for "Compatibility" that are now in the tool bars, and the pop-up buttons that appear over buttons to links.  MS has once again created a frustrating 'system'/program/junk that annoys the end user.
