Isaac Schrodinger faces deportation to Pakistan where he is considered an apostate. At the sametime Canada virtually has extended refugee status to US Army deserters. Is this right ?

well, it's obviously his fault. He's the one who decided to convert from Islam, and become a lackey of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy. Therefore, he's a legitimate target. If he'd had the common sense to remain a Muslim, become a radical fundamentalist, and immediately go on Welfare, demanding that Canadian society change to suit his preferences, he'd be able to remain in Canada, and live comfortably.

I stand to be corrected, but I don't think any of the 20-odd Yank deserters who've applied for refugee status here have gotten a panel or court to say, "yeah, you are a refugee" yet.  In March, Fed Court dismissed the appeal of a US paratrooper medic who suddenly turned Quaker:
