I've read countless stories from other applicants on this site. I figure there's no harm in sharing my own.
I'm 18, turning 19 in a couple months. I grew up in Meaford (Mudford, to some ;D) and when I graduated it seems only natural to enlist. So, in August 2010, I put in my papers. At the time, I selected Combat Engineer as my primary trade choice.
Here I am, months later, living on my own, getting by, and waiting like everyone else. I call the CFRC biweekly. I run 5-6 k every other day, and do countless pushups, situps, squats etc. I'm literally DREAMING about getting "the call". Right now, I'm hoping that I can do my CFAT and other testing close to or during April. I 'd love to be in St. Jean come summer. I'm learning patience though. A few more months or even a year doesn't seem that long when I think about the lifelong career the CF offers.
So, to all would-be soldiers, sailors and aircrew who are hanging in there waiting to form the next generation: Remember, there's a thousand of us just like you.
