LPC leadership race - 2025

Since an appeal is an option, until she does that, no court will likely hear her case as she hasn't used her other legal options yet.
She posted yesterday that her appeal was denied. Nothing on her twitter since then about actually taking it to court, and she has posted a few times since, FWIW.

I was under the understanding from reading that the appeal was to a court, if the court denied it, she might have a hard time pursuing further legal action

The Liberal Party constitution speaks of a Permanent Appeals Committee. I would infer that she tried that first. I’d be astonished if a court had heard it so far, plus we would probably see that fact reported with reference to a Federal Court ruling.

Sounds like Carney was the “change” candidate. The others couldn’t help but try to defend the status quo.

Ironic since Carney is surrounded by the same power brokers as Trudeau.

Ugh.

Ugh.
If Canadian voters are dumb enough to fall for the Carney switcheroo, then Canada deserves what it gets.

If Canadian voters are dumb enough to fall for the Carney switcheroo, then Canada deserves what it gets.
But if most people aren’t paying a lot of attention to this stuff, I can’t blame them.

Carney is (or appears to be) everything Trudeau is not: smart, serious, not-woke, not preachy, thinks about fiscal policy and doesn’t think the budget will balance itself, or the economy “grows from the heart out.

In short, Carney doesn’t come across as the douchebag in his seventh year of gender studies who has a new girl on his arm every week. He comes across as someone for the time we’re in and saying we need to change to meet these times. Whether it’s the change or not, I don’t know, but people like that message and see a steady hand on the tiller.

To a certain extent I agree. Canadians get the Gov they vote for. He's not my choice for leadership of the LPC or to be PM.

I also think Mark Carney's worst enemy is time. And I suspect the billionaire world banker will quickly be shown to be wildly out of touch with double double Canadians. I also don't see him doing well against Trump. He strikes me as weak.

At best IMHO he's a 1 term PM if he wins it.

Unfortunately most Canadians are too complacent to consider even the first level of Carney’s linkage to China’s Communist Party, via the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank…one of the CCP’s major social influence agencies. The AIIB’s implementation of Xi’s Belt and Road program to intertwine China into numerous of the globe’s developing countries, along with the United Front Work Department’s establishment of various Chinese state-sponsored direct foreign interference measures sick as ‘police stations’ influencing/threatening/controlling Chinese diaspora, both are key elements of China’s rather Confucian plan to wrestle de facto control of the global community from the democratic West.

Oh they’ll get a steady hand alright…Carney (and Barton and Butts) guided by his Beijing master.

Carney's team is being run by the people who brought you McGuinty, Wynne, and Trudeau... The figurehead in front of them changes, but they way they govern has remained pretty consistent.

Though you are correct, the average Canadian has no idea about politics apart from Orange Man bad.

I completely agree. I think if one was a fan of JT then Mark Carney is your man. I see him as a continuation of Trudeau.

This is my concern. The way our system works now, the PM is only the mascot. In the case of the Liberals, we would still be 'reelecting' Telford and (formerly and maybe again) Betts. When most voters hear about 'the team', they think it is the rest of caucus; the other elected MPs of the party in power. It is not.

Nail on the head. "Comes across" is the key point.

And he's filling a vacuum, because Poilievre has done a pisspoor job building a meaningful connection with the overall electorate and convincing them that he is that guy.

The US knows this. I guess that should Carney become PM we will pay a heavy economic price with the US.
