Political impacts of Ukraine war

Ponder that. They gutted the foreign influence task force. They’re stripping the investigators needed to enforce the Foreign Agents Registration Act. The exact sorts of tools that we’re working to build here because of how badly needed they are throughout Western countries. And the U.S. administration is just burning them down… How can that jive with any credible claim that they take their national security seriously? And counterintelligence… Export control… The’re gutting America’s ability to use criminal law to protect national secrets, and sensitive technologies and intellectual property.

How in the hell can anyone hand-wave that away, and not see it as a danger to their national security and prosperity? They’re handing themselves over to long term Chinese infiltration and info extraction.
It’s as if an entire country has gone mad. Yes, I know…almost as many people didn’t vote for Trump as voted for him. But where is the serious opposition to Traitor Trump? As Rosie Dimano remarked, why are we not hearing anything much from Biden, Busch, Clinton or Obama? Or from Bernie Sanders? Or Mitt Romney? Are they all afraid of getting whacked by a Trump fanatic if they say anything? In a mere few weeks Trump has managed to get quite a head start on dismantling democracy. I dread to think what may happen in the next year.

Maybe.

A few have come out against him, but several have come out in private and said that the Musk/MAGA faction has threatened them physically as well as financial with ruin if they vote against him.

Got to get my youngest 2 kids Canadian passports...
Honestly, a summer with Grandma/grandpa/uncle/auntie or whoever is still here might not be a bad idea. The ways things are looking, a summer of discontent (or rage) appears to be brewing. Might make 2020 look like a sit-in.

Maybe the Dems have realized the way to beat Trump is to let him go for a while so the Country see what an imbecile he is.

The Dems also need to offer a viable alternative.

Frankly, I am not seeing any really promising leaders amongst the Democrats. Even if there was a talented leader and that person was a woman, the U.S. seems to be one of the few countries in the civilized world that doesn’t want a woman president. Sad.

Give it time. This administration is is only 6 weeks old.

The risk is he is successful in key issues that matter to everyday Americans. Such as border security, for example.

You have to break a few eggs to make a cake.
