I see from a tiny article stuck on page 2 of the Ottawa Citizen that RMC won the annual Sandhurst Competition - http://www.usma.edu/dmi/old/HQ/CLUBS/Sandhurst1/index.html

Well done the lady and gentlemen cadets of the College.

RMC team triumphs

The Ottawa Citizen

May 1, 2005

KINGSTON - A nine-member team of officer cadets from the Royal Military College of Canada has bested rivals from the United States and Britain in an international test of military skills.

It is the first time the RMC has come out on top at the annual Sandhurst Competition, held this year at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York. Yesterday's competition covered equipment inspection, boat movement, marksmanship, grenade throwing, first aid and other challenging tasks.

Well done. If you check the USMA Sandhurst competition site above and click on overview and then go to the 2004 results, the RMC team was second last year, finishing three points behind the winners. The college is on a roll.

I just took this of the RMC web site:

Making us proud "Our cadets are the best"-

The Edmonton SUN

(L, C and R) Officer Cadets David Lacombe, 19, from Granby, Que.; Reid Surkan, 23, from Red Deer, Alta.; and Jonathan Carreiro, 21, from Saskatoon, Sask. setting up a one-rope bridge during the grueling 2005 Sandhurst international military skills competition at the U.S. Military Academy (USMA) in West Point, N.Y. Sat., April 30. The team finished first with 834 point over 1,000, 11 points before the second best team from the U.S.

Job very well done!  The college's team usually finishes in the Top 5 since I was there..  but to actually win the competition is outstanding!!

As the parent of one cadets on this team, all I can say is" I'm very proud of your victory."

And now for the fourth time in five years--Torch post (with lots of background, Afghans participating):

Another victory for the Royal Military College of Canada

Excellent job! Winning 4 times in the past 5 years must at least make some heads turn when foreign militaries think of the Canadian Forces.

Good on the Torch for writing the article that appeared in The Whig and on the milblog. (Brooks and I had this conversation in the sand a few times. He may still sport the indents in his chest as I was making various points about blogs vs. MSM. I've still got his.)  ;D

That said, the phrase 'RMC Team Triumphs' is one of those sentences that appears in English so very infrequently.
