The 50s

I‘m a Herbie so I‘m undoubtedly out of the loop on this - but MTD Edmonton
is running a MG course and the 50 cal isn‘t on the CTP - it‘s C6 only.
Rumour net has it the 50‘s are being phased out in favour of the 25mm.
Can anyone confirm/deny this - seems to me kind of short-sighted, the
technology may be old, but from all I hear the 50 is still a great wpn -
especially in the defensive. Seems to me that in our role as peacekeepers
the 50 mounted in key OPs would provide a reasonable deterrent.

I heard those rumours on my MG course as well. We were told that we would
get an upgrading course for the 25mm. HAHA. I do know that the MG course
that ran in Val. only had the C-6. I don‘t know if that confirms what you
heard about the 50 being out, but it‘s all I know.

Derrick,
what you say is true, they are phasing out the 50‘s but this is in the PRes
, I dont have a clue about the reg force. The rumour mill says that the regs
will keep the 50 but the Pres will lose it.

Yeah,
The 50 is out of the course. Only C6 now, the 25mm isn‘t supposed to be
in for a while yet. I heard that the 50 is only going to play a mounted role
now. The last two mg courses run only had c6, mind you that was in Gagetown,
and you might get lucky in another region.
