Trump administration 2024-2028

The same people then: "Trump will start WW III !!"

And now: "We're angry Trump won't start WW III !!"
I remember when Iranians shot down that airliner Trump refused to tomahawk the missile site saying he didn't want to kill a bunch of low level soldiers who were probably just following orders.

He got called a pussy and accused of making the USA look weak.

I'm no expert, but would this not do the very opposite of lowering grocery prices? Especially when it comes to (specifically) most fruit and vegetables? I hope everyone down south really likes grains.
Increases in the (tariff-including) prices of imported goods tend to increase the demand for less expensive domestic products, which tends to lead to increases in the prices of domestic goods. This is how an import tariff can (usually will) lead to increased prices of imported AND domestic goods. Price levels stabilize somewhere in the region in which domestic and imported goods cost about the same. Obviously factors like brand appeal, quality, etc still apply so that some goods command higher prices than others.

Those critics are mostly the (ex- ?) neocon chorus. Iran was a little quieter after he consented to having Soleimani whacked. Then, of course, he was scorned for resorting to assassination. Apparently some lives are worth more than others. (I realize assassination tit-for-tat is a dangerous game, but that criticism mostly applies to the prospect of high-level political assassinations. Commanders are still soldiers.)

Killing Soleimani was righteous. Credit where it’s due for that. The message had needed sending for a while.

Definitely.

1. Where did you get the money for such an expensive suit?
2. That's a cheap suit, how dare you disrespect the hand that feeds you by wearing those rags!
3. Wow you're strutting around in a suit while your people are dying?
Ahhhh, and blessed be thy fruit.

I've no doubt you nailed this one.

10 lbs of salt here but Olga Nesterova is a legit journalist.

Invasion stuff aside, which is about as likely as me winning the 649, the NATO stuff is worrisome.

I have a feeling the "invasion" threat is going to be towards Mexico (if Nasterova's sources are correct), with the announcement yesterday that another couple thousand troops are being sent to the border.

I’m sure they must be displeased with being part of Russia’s new oblast…
Wonder where the compounds-in-the-woods crowd land as far as alignment with a country whose federal security services make the US "Fed" of legend look like a nonintrusive, benevolent friend of the heavily armed and opted-out.

Another step closer to an actual head of state saying out loud what a lot of us are thinking.

I wonder when a bunch of low level farmers start losing their farms because of canceled US AID grain/legume contracts and Potash/Oil/Gas tariffs if Trump will say something like, 'well I did tell you that I was going to cut Federal Government "waste" and I was going to install tariffs, sorry about loosing your farm but you probably didn't manage it to properly.'

Do you actually think that the Mossad needed Trump permission to whack Soleimani? You are wrong on that front 110% Mossad does what it wants, to whoever it wants, whenever they can - they DO NOT ask for US persmission.

Keeping in mind "the tall poppy syndrome", and thinking about our own party structures up here, I think the person on the throne is less of a problem than the person beside the throne. And those behind the throne.

Having said that, the US still has viable control mechanisms.

House of Representatives

218 Republicans
215 Democrats
2 Vacancies

All it takes is 2 conviction Republicans to join the Democrats, if the Democrats hold.

Senate

53 Republicans
45 Democrats
2 Independents

The Democrats need to pick up the Independents (Sanders and King) and 4 Republicans (Collins, Murkowski, Young and 1 other)

Soleimani was killed by a US drone strike. Are you thinking of someone else?

Trump seems to be holding approval in some circles: "Rob Bluey, president and executive editor of the Daily Signal, and Julian Epstein, longtime Democratic operative, attorney, and former chief counsel to the House Judiciary Committee, gave Trump grades of A-F on some of the top issues"

As of March 4th, 2025, the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll shows that 50% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Forty-eight percent (48%) disapprove.

If anything the fact you only have 2% unsure shows how deeply polarizing his policies are.
