Trump administration 2024-2028

Great find Kirkhill!

It's amazing how blatantly the mainstream media twists what people say & present their message completely differently than how it was intended (or even what was actually said)

...

Years ago, I met a lovely young girl who was the daughter of my girlfriend's friend. She was around 6 years old or so, and just seemed like a happy, playful, innocent kid.

Fast forward roughly 8 or 9 months...this same friend is getting married, and we are invited to the wedding.

It was a Mormon wedding/reception held at a Mormon church, so it was all in a gymnasium that had been decorated. Same with

My girlfriend & I get sat at the same table as the little 6yo girl I had met 9 months prior, and I wanna say her grandma. (The bride's mom)

...

Holy shit... (I'm not trying to make a joke here)

That beautiful, happy, playful little girl who had been running around and laughing when I first met her was borderline catatonic, unable to speak, unable to turn her head, cried because of apparent constant neck pain, had very limited motor function, and you could tell had some sort of mental or processing handicap...

I actually didn't recognize her at first, until my girlfriend greeted her by name.

Long story short - I asked her grandma what had happened, as gently as I could.

And her answer? They took her in to get vaccinated (can't remember what for) and 2 weeks later she started having seizures, and over time had just become progressively worse

EYE. OPENER.

I realize there is a debate between whether vaccines can contribute to the onset of autism.

Regardless of whether they do or not isn't the point of my post here. But vaccines CAN be dangerous, extremely dangerous, if you're that unlucky person who has a severe reaction to them.

So with that in mind, should we be injecting a few dozen vaccines into babies? Especially for things that a baby would most likely not have, like Hep-B? (I'd say probably not...)

I'm not anti-vaccine. But I'm not pro 'inject my baby with a ton of chemicals and dead viruses within a few days of them being born' either

(Has there ever been studies on whether injecting multiple vaccines at once can cause subsequent medical issues? Maybe it isn't the vaccines causing these issues, but rather we are injecting a bunch of them into someone who's immune system hasn't even had a chance to really do anything yet?) 🤷‍♂️

Vaccines are like any other medication. It is a game of numbers. 1 out of x may have a severe reaction, but some number greater than x will likely die or have severe lifelong issues if they contract the actual disease. The question becomes whether as a parent you are willing to roll the dice that your child doesn't come into contact with the disease when they are too young to fight off the virus naturally. Are we willing to accept that not vaccinating children means that there is a much higher infant and child mortality rate, vs. a potential chance of complications later in life due to having been vaccinated.

In a different time, Kennedy's points may have been taken as merely taking a critical look at an issue. It would also have likely stayed within the academic and medical field. Now, the comments are used by both sides to push agendas that are probably much different than his original intent.

Posting at 3am

At this point I think Canada is living rent free in his head…
Exactly where is this number coming from? A trade deficit isn’t “subsidizing” - it’s that the US imports more (or conversely, Canada exports less).

But I’m sure he’s just joking (as he posts several times about Canada being a state under Gov Trudeau) 🤣

Isn’t the point of vaccines to prevent the disease? So yeah - being vaccinated against stuff you don’t have yet is sort of the point.

Also, we’re so used to most risks that we don’t think about it. We technically take a risk every time we get into a car and drive to work. But no one is suggesting that we ban cars because of car-related deaths.

He knows exactly what he's doing: preparing for a tough trade negotiation with Canada by causing his opponents to panic and whipping up the masses to back him.

Who knows.

As long as we keep humouring him while the adults get the real work done. Doug Ford has my support if things require retaliation.

By that standard, there's a lot of people in Toronto or Ottawa that don't know a lot about the geographical details of their respective jurisdictions, too :)

Seems to me most people I know like to travel.

My wife and kids prefer to fly out of Pearson.

But, I like nothing better than to take the Union-Pearson Express to Union, and buy a VIA Rail ticket to anywhere in Canada.

Especially looking foward to reinstatement of the Northlander. :)

True.

But he wasn't suggesting we ban vaccinating kids altogether.

He was questioning whether newborn babies require a few dozen shots all at once, within a day or two of being born. And thats a fair question...

We tend to forget, as part of this discussion, that we ourselves didn't get anywhere near as many vaccinations when we were babies as babies do now, and we turned out just fine for the most part...so it is a fair question to ask/discuss.

(Like he says in the interview, people are quick to label him as an anti-vaxxer as an immediate response to the question he's bringing up. Doesn't change the fact that it's a question probably worth re-visiting from time to time as things change over time.)

But they don't get a "few dozen shots" within a day or two of being born.

Child and Adolescent Immunization Schedule by Age

They may get two shots at birth: RSV (depending on maternal vaccination status) and the first dose of Hep B.

Our months-old grandson received his vaccines within about a month of birth. If he received any right after birth I don't recall, and his were administered in two batches separated by a couple of weeks.

I agree that vaccines are a numbers game. If people are looking for 100% safety in everything they are always going to disappointed. No doubt, it sucks if you or your kid are the '1-in-one million'.

If Kennedy intends to stop all vaccines until there are long-term (how long?), placebo-backed, double-blind studies, a lot of people are going to get really sick.

Do the mother's immunities carry over to their new born babies?

Only for a short period of time and it decreases within a few months.
the key to that is she would need to have the circulating antibodies to begin with. I'm on immune suppresants and have increasingly been on a managed testing schedule with respect to the need for boosters
