TIL. I thought LI in PPCLI denoted rifle regiment traditions. The more you know.No. Although The Founder thought having Light Infantry in the name gave it that certain air of dash and derring do.
We never adopted Rifle regiment drill. A lot of the Originals were ex Guards who served in the British Army

We do some unique drill (badly) but I think that’s more a legacy of the guards connection.

Why is the CAF dress committee speaking to anything environmental? The various sorts of operational and specialist dress, absolutely, but seems like Nos. 1-3 should be left entirely to their respective environmental committees.Scuttlebutt from a CPO1.

I was in Esquimalt in 1969 where 1 QOR was stationed at Work Point Barracks. They were in the process of moving out. 1 QOR went onto the Supp list but many of its people were rebadged as 3 PPCLI (which had existed during Korea but been disbanded afterwards. 3 PPCLI moved to Germany in 1970.TIL.
