Yes I recall that. A “pretendian “Isn't she the one that lied about being native or some such thing?

I'd vote you for SECDEFTrump's defense choice stuns the Pentagon and raises questions about the Fox News host's experience
By nominating Hegseth, Trump is tapping someone largely inexperienced and untested on the global stage to take over the world’s most powerful military.apnews.com
The new pick for SECDEF also questions women in combat units. I’m sure that will go just fine.
And some of us here are around the Major rank and have been in combat. I’m not sure that puts us anywhere near the ballpark of having the experience to become SECDEF, especially when there was a retired LGen in the running.
Oh great, another snobby elitist academic who think they are smarter than everyone else making decisions! Also has a MPP from Harvard which is nothing to sniff your nose at.
Sure, but no one voted for him to be SECDEF.I'd vote you for SECDEF
“Not from the Estalishment” and “MPP from Harvard” seem at odds with each other.I like the pick solely because he isn't from the establishment. Also has a MPP from Harvard which is nothing to sniff your nose at.
1. The pay drop is definitely something to take into consideration, but the influence as SECDEF is a tad more than a talking head at Fox.Most of all, he left his $8 million a year job at FOX to become SecDef for $246,000 a year.
Had a senate ever not confirmed a nominee from a president from their own party when they control the senate? Senators with their 6 year terms may feel more secure in "not" cow towing to trump, so is it possible a few reoublican senators say "this guy isn't qualified" and vote against it?Sure, but no one voted for him to be SECDEF.

2. I said this in a parallel thread but he hasn’t done anything yet. He is the nominee to be SECDEF, like everyone else who is a nominee for their cabinet posts. The Senate needs to assent to it (one of those “checks and balances” things) which is not a sure thing. It’s a GOP senate so it’s more sure, but not 100%.
He’ll get confirmed. But a lot of questions can get asked that lead to inside parts being said outside.Had a senate ever not confirmed a nominee from a president from their own party when they control the senate? That's my understanding, too.My understanding though is Trump is trying to find a way to get them confirmed without the normal process.
How is he an academic?Oh great, another snobby elitist academic who think they are smarter than everyone else making decisions!
Just because you attend an elite school doesn't make you part of the establishment.Sure, but no one voted for him to be SECDEF.

Its called 'The Swamp.'Just because you attend an elite school doesn't make you part of the establishment.
The establishment refers to "the Washington Establishment" the agglomeration of Democrat & Republican elites, along with the Bureaucrats who support them.
It's a political term for a select group of people. We also have an establishment in Canada.
There’s already talk that he’s just going to be the face of this and the White House will be pulling most of strings. If the Senate won’t confirm his appointment, the President can just appoint him as “acting”. That’s how Trump got around those pesky confirmation hearings last time.
The fact he advocates for the pardoning of convicted war criminals, including ones turned in by his own troops, should be disqualifying.
Yeah, he looks like an empty suit. There’s already talk that he’s just going to be the face of this and the White House will be pulling most of strings.
Link please. There’s already talk that he’s just going to be the face of this and the White House will be pulling most of strings.
Poor attempt at being glib on my part, I'll admit. And this wasn't actually directed at you. It was directed at those on this site who have demonstrated considerable disdain for the idea of a post secondary education, saying as much that having such an education at best provides no benefit, and at worst causes you to become a woke idiot. How is he an academic?
Going to University and receiving an education doesn't make you an academic. Besides weren’t you the one supposedly professing the virtues of higher education to everyone?
No link. Was at lunch on the Vashi Kapelos show involving a discussion about the pick . Was on radio but can likely be streamed I would think.Link please.
Just listened to Ham and Keyes speak about appointments, including Hegseth, on Vassy's show. Nowhere did I hear them say he'd just be the face and that the WH would pull the strings. They talked about his inexperience and name recognition. There’s already talk that he’s just going to be the face of this and the White House will be pulling most of strings.
Yeah, lot of that going around at all political levels.... if someone doesn't like Trump, they are more than likely to transfer that dislike to, and talk down, his appointments also. Doesn't mean they are right.
