You'll recieve an advance on your 1st pay, I think $200 or $250 or so, to get gear and other stuff that you may still require (you're taken to the Canex for stuff in the 1st few days).
My best bet is that you'll not see a full check until a few weeks have passed, *but* when I did militia summer...
I should change the topic to "Most Civvies" as some personell that works day in and day out with the military, spouses and children would probably be able to see part of the view also.
Military spouses are the unsung heroes of any armed forces IMO ;)
The first reaction feels like an ice cold rod stuck into your spine, your head feels like there's a cold buzz going on and nothing much seems real. You feel like you're having tunnel vision and seeing it from someone else eye's and nothing else that you've been doing at that moment matters...
It's more than $650 for married and single, I just talked to my brother in law and he confirmed it. He was getting just over $750. This was as of December/Jan when he graduated Basic, since then he's gotten a slight raise and it's over $800. That is AFTER R&Q.
Getting switched to a part time shift starting next week, which means I can really start doing some cardio which Im sorely in need of. I suspect it'll be a few more weeks before I get my call, so it'll give me time to exercise a bit more.
Anyone ever have the problem of their muscle/tendon...
Ive met some of those boys who live up North and fight the good fight. They think our winters down here are mild even at the coldest of times lol.
Good to see he survived, they live in some of the world's worst climates.
I do 100% agree that being physically fit rather than a gob of out of weight fat will help much more as it allows your body to concentrate on whats needed - keeping your mind straight. If you're haulin 60 pounds of gear and 40 pounds of fat with people firing at you, you're mind also has that to...
To be honest Popn, are you going to be crackin off situps and pushups in combat to strike fear into the hearts of enemies, or are you going to be walking, and walking and walking and walking and walking and walking and walking? A good war is a boring war, and the 13KM stroll is a decent...
Not a nexus, but a correlation.
If you can do the BFT you are therefore reasonably fit, this usually makes people feel better about themselves and their body, which is a sorely missing ideal these days. Also, it helps weed out the lazy slack asses.
Im not sure how it's run these days though...
I think the BFT weeds out people and gets them to a starting point that they should be at for fitness.
There's no real training that can prepare you for combat, every person Ive talked to that's been under fire has told me that. Adrenaline, fear, anger, excitement and so on pumps through you so...
They told me after 6 weeks they put out some RUSH on them and label it uber important. Keep that in mind Rugby, and keep on them about getting your VFS (Verification of Former Service) prior to anything. If they don't get that then they can't order your medical.
Get them to go through your file to *ensure* they havent mixed up someone else's into yours. It happened to me in Halifax and they had to straighten it out (didnt take long).
All papers you've signed should have your name / birthday / SSN or a combo of the 2 at the least, most will also had...
Im done everything at Halifax. I was in the reserves over 5yrs ago so Im still waiting for my med docs to arrive before they can send it all off for me to get my offer.
Taken almost a year so far :o
Yeah Rugby, make sure you got your act together this time, I heard that 3 strikes and you're out (from a friend who has done that).
Maybe we'll be in the same BMQ if you get in...and if it's in either Borden or St Jean it doesn't matter as long as I reach the goal of getting my trade. I've done...
