    Armed Medics

This is a good topic, especially now with the role of the Medical field in combat/missions.  I am currently in Afghanistan, sadly soon to leave, and the topic of use of force and Rules of Engagement came up last month here.  There is a fine line, I feel, between the Geneva Convention and the use...

Titn Good Day, Welcome to the nursing profession. :D  And Good Luck in June with your boards.  If you want to be a "nurse" in the military, army, navy or airforce, you must join the ranks of the commission officers.  This goes back to the days of Nursing Sisters and the lack of respect they...

Tactical combat casualty care ( TCCC )

This would be similar to the use of AEDs which needs you to be certified by a medical doctor.  Is this correct or am I missing something?   The use of AED's in Ontario, at least, are taught under the direction of a MD.   The programs must reviewed and the program signed off.

    Fluid Resuscitation in trauma

One paper I read recently on combat and disaster medicine states that most casualties won't initially need an IV.   I agree, medicineman, I was recently at a conference with a MD form the US Navy.   The key point of one of his talks was the need vs no need for intial injury battle field...

embed the medics right into the Coy's

It is nice to see the combat arms soldiers thinking.  The use of "combat first aid responders" is an idea.  However, to remind you, the goal of the enemy is to limit the number of fighters, for example, every wonder why most antipersonal mines only blow off a foot, it takes two soldiers to...
