2025 Ontario Election

I'm going to put this here, given it's coming interestingly close to the election call ....

The Steelworkers are understandably worried about steel & aluminum et. al. in a tariff/tax fight. While supporting some tariffs ...
... they're not wild about across-the-board taxes

Translation: protect us from foreign competition and to hell with all the other industries for which our outputs are their inputs, but don't hurt our inputs.

Maybe a bit pessimistic, but certainly with a significant kernel of truth there. Sort of a variation on the theme of ON/QC dairy.

Still, to be fair, big steel/aluminum employs a lot of people who could be kicked in the nutz (more, based on other tariff actions) from south of us, so I can see individual workers being worried, too.

And they're off! These bits from The Canadian Press ...

Something absolutely earth shattering will have to happen before I leave Ford and the Conservatives. I've seen all I need to see from the liberals and dippers to run away as fast as my fat little body and short legs will allow me to.

Completely unnecessary and silly election. This is purely Ford resetting the clock while it’s opportune for his party. I can’t blame him- but it does nothing to enhance our province’s ability to respond to events. He has a commanding majority now and will retain one.

Never let a 'crisis' go to waste, eh ?

Those are some pretty big number in that poll...

Man polls are wild ...

And he’s campaigning against Donald Trump. There are a lot heads imploding squaring that lol.

I don't mind the reset and gaining a couple more years to boot.

Oh, for sure. As long as nobody pretends it’s anything but opportunism rather than being a matter of necessity.

I recognize the such opportunism is a normal thing in politics. I’m not gonna lose sleep over it. I just find the drama around elections annoying in the moment.

He’s what we need to take on Trump.

Yup. Just that we have him already and that wasn’t at any risk.

No drama for me. All I need to know is what date and where🙂

If things track consistently, then at least one politician will be successful in securing a majority in an early election….and without the PRC’s help, to boot! 🍁 🖕🏼 🇨🇳

Didn't Tim Houston just secure an early majority last November, in Nova Scotia?
