Little bit of Naval Aweseome (HMCS OTTAWA ships moral badge)

Like the illegal change of the designation of ranks, still not done correctly, the moustache could have been done correctly as a CAF initiative sponsored by the RCN, so a NWO turned ACSO or RCE could wear the moustache. Alas, the RCN is parochial and indifferent to others, and so they did not.

While the Moustache looks funny, I wouldn’t put it in the same league as MARTECH.

Likely CRCN saw the RN and USN’s equivalent badges and thought “I want bling. The RCAF has bling…”
Agree moustache vs MARTEC is a poor comparison.

The moustache needs to go through the proper procedure to make it a proper specialist badge. Looking at the requirements I'm not sure being a MARS/NWO quite meets the bar set by clearance divers and submariners.

No, it was a legacy/vanity project of a former CRCN who pushed it through despite the work of the staff going through the proper procedures.

Why break with army.ca tradition ? Lol ;)
Tradition? Tradition is holding us back by maintaining all of the reserve regiment's names and armouries. What we need to do is reorganize the reserves into a smaller number of regiments, with the local reserve units being company/squadron sized elements lead by at most a Capt./Maj....

While we are at it, we should bring back the Sam Browne belts and peak caps for officers.

Pedantically it matches a qualification, then a position, then an appointment/position. You don't need to be an NWO to get one (though its pretty hard otherwise). Lets not denegrate each other by pointing fingers and saying one specialist badge is more valuable or harder then another. They are all different and all are awarded for different reasons.

Don't disagree that it needs to be better then a NAVORD, and proper procedure needs to be followed. That it was a bit of a vanity project no disagreement either. It needs to be in the dress regs. Technically no one is allowed to wear it unless they work for the RCN in the org chart. So if you work for CMP or DGMEPM tough break. Not that anyone is going to stop you from wearing it though.

Why not a LogO, Eng and CSE qualification/position badge now ?

How about one for the Coxswains and Div CPOs ?

What about the S1 Departmental Storesmen ?

What about the S3 QM qualified folks ?

If you remuster out of a RCN DEU, you can't.

The SSI on the other hand follows you regardless of changes to occupation or DEU.

I would for that in order to put the RCN Operations badge (and NCM equivalent) on all dark blue pers. The fashionista in me dies a little every time I see the army imposition of cap badges on our pristine and beautiful Naval uniform. :p

I'm amazed, given the desire to fiddle, build empires, etc. that CRCN and Comd RCAF haven't turfed branch cap badges, command pins, and whatnot from their respective DEUs.
