Does this Manuge Miscalculation of Disability Pensions Class Action include any Veterans who received multiple Disability Benefits Lump Sum amounts? I'm guessing we are eligible correct? If so, when should we be notified of when we can file a claim to receive compensation?

Info is available at: Miscalculation of Disability Pensions Class Action

Per the Final Settlement Agreement:

VAC PAYMENT GROUP – LIVING CLASS MEMBERS

24. The Defendant shall make automatic Settlement Payments to living Class Members in the VAC Payment Group directly through the usual, ongoing, process of remitting VAC payments of benefits to that Class Member.

25. Class Members eligible as Claimants to the Claims Based Payment Group at the time of the Final Order who, during the Interim Period, establish a current payment arrangement with VAC and receive of VAC benefits on a recurring monthly basis, are eligible to be part of the VAC Payment Group.

This is more of an "off-the-cuff" question. You would think there would be a Class Action on the go regarding the exposure to mould, lead and asbestos (poor air quality) while serving onboard the old Navy ships.

Also I'm surprised there is not a Class Action on the exposure to lead and asbestos while living in the now torn down old PMQ's at CFB Uplands in Ottawa.

This two situations regarding exposure to mould, lead and asbestos on Navy ships and also in the PMQ's at CFB Uplands is definitely work a Class Action Lawsuit, if not one currently in progress already?

There was one proposed In the early stages, unsure where it is now but these things move slow.

I suffer from constant lung issues and was contacted from a lawyer August 2020. They were looking for Class members to start the suit.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to secure a medical diagnosis backing up my symptoms. I had a battery of breathing tests and others done.

Or firing the 84mm Carl Gustav multiple times (and M-72s), no ear defenders, getting your bell rung over and over again. I believe the Americans are pushing for compensation for that

Any word on payouts yet for the Manuge Class Action for VAC Miscalculations of Benefits? I haven't received anything yet or nothing in My VAC Account or regular email.

Did you find anything out?

How did it come? through VAC?, email?, I know it didn't come from Canada Post.

Can you share with us what it said. Nothing personal, just what you are willing to share.

Thx

It arrived through secure email @ VAC - "MY VAC". It was a very standard form style letter which said, "Under the terms of this settlement you are eligible for a lump sum, tax-free settlement payment of $,*.** If you have not already received your payment, you can expect it within two weeks. Legal fees are deducted from your payment. Enclosed, is an information sheet that provides details of how your payment was calculated. The letter goes on to say that " Class Members will receive a single payment of about 2.37% of all Affected Benefits they have received from the period of January 2003 to December 2023".
Fortunately for me, I am setup for Direct Deposit, and do not need to wait for Canada Post regarding the payment.

Thanks for the info, I looked at my VAC account today for any new correspondence, nothing yet, so will keep waiting.

And it's another great day, ...... payment was direct deposited into my bank account this morning.

Thats great.

I was looking through past correspondence from VAC and I found a correction letter from 2019

"Subject: Corrective payment

Your benefits under the Pension Act were incorrectly adjusted between 2003 and 2010, resulting in an underpayment. Pensions and allowances under the Pension Act are subject to an annual adjustment. We incorrectly adjusted these benefits between 2003 and 2010. The adjustment was corrected in 2010 for the 2011 payment year and applied to payments going forward; "

I am wondering if this will have any bearing on what is going on with the last settlement.

How much were you paid if you don't mind me asking?

Anyone who knows who VAC operates know if this means that if you didn't get a letter, you did t get anything? Would they do it in waves or would they just do it all at once?

I got the same thing on Wednesday. I received an email in my regular email account informing me there was an email in my MY VAC account. Checked that found the same email ShadytTree received above. Will check my bank account.

Checked my bank account and my payment was deposited yesterday.

Mine as well. The letter was received through My VAC account on Wednesday stating a projected payment within two weeks. Payment was deposited late yesterday. That's pretty efficient.

Received my letter, this morning, it actually says it came yesterday, payment was also made yesterday.
