Secret clearance

What happens if for whatever reason someone isn’t granted secret clearance while at BMQ? I’m assuming just sent on your way but not sure, not thinking it will be an issue but I really don’t know how hard it is to get a secret clearance. I’m a bit older so a lot more to go through I’m guessing.

Based on what I am seeing, nobody at BMQ is getting Level 2 initiated. Once initiated it takes between 6-18 months to get approved, depending on how complex your life is.

I see, so what you’re saying is you won’t even be processed for level two until well after basic then? I had no idea it took that long for a clearance! Thanks for the reply

Not from what I am seeing.

Same this end. Renewals are slightly faster, but new clearances are taking 6-8months.

Does everyone in the CF go thru a secret clearance or is it based on trade? Does some trades only allow you to have a reliability clearance?

It is based on trade and position requirements.
