Hello,
According to the STRATFOR employee both the Sinaloa and Los Zetas have their respected territory on either coast of the Mexican nation. The territory of both cartels is near the American border, yet according to stratfor both cartels are using proxies to establish influence in each others s territories. Perhaps it is do to the formation of CJNG or maybe do to greed. Does anyone think that these two major cartels are aware of the possible consequences their actions may have, since more violence would arise leading to more pressure from the government. It seems as though the drug war will never be solved with solely law enforcment measures, fixing the poverty issue could maybe be a more effective measure of fighting drug cartels. Whenever there is a demand for a good,be it legal or illegal, there will always be those who wish to profit from that demand. Drug abuse, especially with a party drug like cocaine will never go away. Does anyone have an idea on what the next step should be in the war on drugs?
