The RCAF's Next Generation Fighter (CF-188 Replacement)

One of my personal favourites - the Hawker Hart
A biplane with art deco sensibilities - lead in to the Hurricane and Spitfire generation.

And if you are looking for low and slow....

Performance
  • Maximum speed: 185 mph (298 km/h, 161 kn) at 13,000 ft (4,000 m)
  • Stall speed: 45 mph (72 km/h, 39 kn)
  • Range: 430 mi (690 km, 370 nmi)
  • Service ceiling: 22,800 ft (6,900 m)
  • Time to altitude: 8 min 30 s to 10,000 ft (3,000 m)
...

And on the subject of history repeating itself

Greatest 5th gen fighter aircraft of our time, propped up by internet arm chair generals.
Are you trying to tell me that you didn't want the RCAF to operate a 4th gen fighter that was going to be apparently built at IMP Aerospace in Canada? Surely nothing can go wrong with Canada entirely building a fighter aircraft?

Would've made for a great Hawk replacement as a trainer....give a few dozen to the snowbirds too.

Assembled at IMP.

A vote of confidence in the F-35...

Israel showed the 'power' of F-35s in destroying nearly all of Iran's air defenses without a loss, UK admiral says

"Israel used more than 100 aircraft, carrying fewer than 100 munitions, and with no aircraft getting within 100 miles of the target in the first wave, and that took down nearly the entirety of Iran's air-defense system," Radakin said during a Royal United Services Institute lecture in London.

"It has destroyed Iran's ability to produce ballistic missiles for a year and left Tehran with a strategic dilemma in how it responds. That is the power of fifth-generation aircraft, combined with exquisite targeting and extraordinary intelligence," Radakin said. "And that was all delivered from a single sortie."

We'd be better off replacing the Hawk with an actual trainer instead of a full fighter, especially given its pricetag and the logistics of such a thing.

Aren't those delayed by years?
Serial production and deliveries have started this year. Another point is that the T-7 uses the same engine as the Hornet, so it would fit right into our support system.

The biggest threat tu the F-35 are the regular disinformation campaigns attempting to defund the program. On one side you have people who want to sell Super Hornets and Gripens. On the other you have people who think everything can be done by drones, optical sensors and AI.

I don't think we get a choice. FaCT contracts for training outcomes. They get to pick the airplane to train on.

The F404 from the 70s and 2010s only share the name.
