Why would’t Trump try to shakedown Zelensky again? He already did it once. He’s just staying true to form. Like I keep saying, robber baron.
America already has significant rare earth deposits at Mountain Pass, California, that have already been in production. We have them at Hoidas Lake, SK and Nechalacho, NWT. Australia has an operating mine at Mount Weld. Sufficient exploitable reserves already exist within FVEY countries.
But obviously Trump’s going to try to extort Ukraine for support. It would be uncharacteristic of him not to.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is proposing an exchange of seized territory with Russia as part of any potential negotiations to end the war.
Ukraine holds control of a small pocket of Russian territory, parts of Kursk Oblast, captured during a surprise incursion in August.
Zelensky, in an interview with The Guardian, said he planned to offer Russia control of Kursk in exchange for Ukrainian territory under Russian occupation.
“We will swap one territory for another,” Zelensky said.
Zelensky did not say which territory Kyiv would request be returned to Ukraine in an exchange for Kursk, nor did he address negotiations over the status of other land occupied by Russia.
“I don’t know, we will see. But all our territories are important, there is no priority,” he said.

And don't forget Putin has already said the sale of Alaska was wrong/is invalid and that Russia will take back all of it's 'traditional' lands". Close enough to operate drones over Alaska, or launch glide bombs, all without entering the ADIZ or American ('Russian far eastern') airspace.

Russia also withdrew the 90s law recognizing the independence of the baltic's as well, which is exactly where he will try and test NATO, that or he will take over all ukraine then roll in to Hungary, and Orban would let him, essentially making Article 5 useless.

Article 5 is not the panacea you think it is - it is actually pretty weak (as I have pointed out before) as it relies on each country deciding what it feels is an appropriate contribution to the NATO response. Anything from thoughts and prayers plus sanctions to saturating the enemy airspace with bombers and cruise missiles while conducting an army level combined arms beach/assault.

Trump is of the belief that all of Europe, and the rest of the world, will just fall in line and re-start relations with Russia after this. What if Europe just says, 'fuck u', we are going to continue with our sanctions against Russia, Trump you want to deal with him, fine go ahead.
