Trump administration 2024-2028

You're probably going to be waiting a while. I don't think many people are going to see this trip like a vacation to Hawaii.
Oh I wasn’t expecting anything. I’m well aware of the political hypocrisy at play here.

Yeah Panama was such a better spot to go while first ministers were meeting right?

I wouldn't say it's hypocrisy at play Remus.

I'm not sure if premiers get the same vacation benefits as the prime minister, but I feel his vacations cost the tax payers more than Smith going where ever she goes for family vacations.

But is Smith "going on vacation"? I wouldn't put it past her to do some sight seeing and enjoy some amenities, but it clearly says she's meeting industry leaders and elected officials. That's a far cry from a trip to a private island with ones family.

If Smith tries to hide the details of her trip, including trying to hide staying in a $6000 per night room with a butler, then she should absolutely be criticized for it.

Yeah Panama was such a better spot to go while first ministers were meeting right?
Not sure what you're referring to here?

Waiting for the vacation Nazis here to criticize her being on vacation at this important time for Alberta…

I mentioned it. And that fact that it's in Panama or was, I don't know where she is now, only magnifies the bizarreness.

It's a terrible optic and she should be at her desk working away right now.

I do want to be clear here. I am not bemoaning any politician’s vacation time. Just the criticisms aimed at one that don’t translate to the other. At least be consistant in your (the general “your”, not targeting anyone specific) disdain for vacationing politicians as opposed to limiting it to one side only. It really makes your arguments biased and weak when applied in this context.

Some guesses re: the upcoming inaugural address ....
... and where to watch online (swearing in expected to start noon Eastern/1100 Central/0900 Pacific/1335 Atlantic):

So he’s nationalizing industry now ?

Amongst a couple of hundred other things it seems...

Trump to sign more than 200 executive orders on first day in office, report says

The network’s White House correspondent Jacqui Heinrich tweeted the following list of what the orders will do:

  • Close the border to all illegal aliens via proclamation and declare a national emergency at the border
  • Direct designations of cartels as foreign terrorist organizations
  • Re-institute “Remain in Mexico,” end “Catch and Release,” and direct the military to construct a new phase of the border wall
  • “Fully unleash” Alaskan energy, terminate Biden policies that have “constrained US supply”
  • Return federal workers to in-person work
  • Strengthen control over senior government officials and implement a new merit-based hiring review
  • Suspend security clearances for the 51 national security officials who “lied” about Hunter Biden’s laptop ahead of the 2020 presidential election
  • End all DEI programs across the federal government
  • Establish a new Department of Government Efficiency hiring freeze
  • Declare a national energy emergency and pause all offshore wind leases
  • Withdraw from the Paris Climate Accord
  • Direct all agencies and departments to remove all federal actions that increase costs for families and consumers

Interesting article about that German word "realpolitik"

You only get to write the rules if you hold the power.

Are they still legally obligated to collaborate on demand with Chinese intelligence collection?
Heres my confusion about the whole thing. Yes I believe Tic Tok works with the Chinese for intelligence gathering. However so does Facebook and other groups as they sell the data they collect.

The main difference I see being one supports the American oligarchs and one doesn’t.

A last presidential action by Biden last night: he preemptively pardoned all members and witnesses of the January 6th committee, as well as Dr. Anthony Fauci and Gen Mark Milley.

I find this to be a much more sensible solution to dealing with Trump than attempting a dollar for dollar trade war in which we suffer terribly. Way to go, Premier Smith

I understand that the reason for Trump moving the inauguration indoors was an unseasonably cold snap.

When I lived in Indiana the weathermen referred to that type of intrusion as an "Alberta Clipper".
